Who would have picked Kings vs Coyotes and Rangers/Capitals vs Devils as what's looking like the conference finals matchups at the moment. Assuming Phoenix and NJ get the 4th win, one of those 5 teams will lift the cup. I have no idea who to root for. Probably the Kings or Capitals.

It's so weird seeing people caring about hockey (and the Clippers) in this city.

Devils dominated the Flyers tonight. Still haven't even seen Kovy turn it on.

Btw didn't post this the other day but Adam Larrson was all of 19 for his first goal in game 2. Just think he's going to be a stud in NJ....

I think I heard that the Kings are the first No. 8 seed to ever beat the No. 1 and 2 teams. If Phoenix wins their series, LA would be the first team since Calgary in 03-04 to face each of the top three seeds from their conference in the postseason. Calgary advanced to the Stanley Cup finals that year and lost to Tampa Bay, which was the No. 1 seed in the East that year.

I guess LA vs. Rangers would be best for the league, so I hope it turns out that way. But I have very little interest now.

The Caps have been my playoff team since the Hawks were eliminated.

I really dislike Phoenix, mostly because the NHL had a chance to move them to a place that deserves hockey but didn't. Beyond them I really do not like or dislike any of the other remaining teams that much. I guess I am cheering for Washington in the East.

I totally agree with you on moving them. I want them in a city with a fanbase that cares more than once every 15 years, but I read today that an announcement is likely that Jamison is buying them and they will probably stay. This isn't the one I read but same story:

I can't stand Phoenix because they're about as exciting as watching grass grow, their whole game is predicated on opponents making mistakes, they cannot create offensively. It's like the Bears counting on the defense to score (don't think that's going be required this year though), a cheap way to play.

I'm rooting for them because for several years they finished at the top of the standings and then flopped in the playoffs and now they come in as the 7 seed and seem to be making a run.

Im still not a big fan of Ovechkin for taking out Brian Campbell a couple of years ago though.

Just saw the replay of Jersey' last goal - might be the cheapest goal since, I can't remember his name, Oilers defense man shot it into his own goal.

If you had asked me to name the 8 playoff teams that I would least expect to win the Cup before the playoffs started, 4 of the 5 teams that are still alive (assuming Devils don't blow a 3-1 lead with 10 mins left) would have been on that list.

I'm fine with Philly losing. Laviolette is a dick.

But I just flat do not care about these playoffs anymore.

I will as long as the Caps are alive.

Wow the Rangers are absolutely dominating the Caps down the stretch nursing a 1 goal lead in game 7. The Rangers have been in their offensive zone almost the entire last 8 minutes, and Washington, desperately needing a goal have gotten almost no offensive chances....even with 6 attackers they couldnt get anything going. That made for a very disappointing last 8 minutes as it never seemed like the Capitals had a chance despite being down only 1.

This Phoenix-LA game seems destined for a few fights.

I have to admit I'm kind of happy with the eastern conference matchup. At least hockey will be a huge story around here for a couple weeks. Plus, there's an outside shot I'll be getting free tix to one of the games.
