A little difficult to see, but you can see some sort of semblance of a hold there.

this one's a little better, you can see Bush's body being pulled back somewhat; kinda ticky-tack, but not the most egregious reffing error ever like it had originally appeared

Probably one of my most frustrating moments in that game yesterday was when the Bears got down inside the 10 and basically dictated every play to the defense. First play, no one in the backfield and Cutler rifles a ball at Sanzenbacher at the goal line for an incompletion. Next play, Forte is now in the backfield and it's a running play. Duh! Next play is an empty backfield yet again and it's another pass play.

This is Martz "complicated" offense?

there were like 5 people in the box on that run. GB was daring the Bears to run and that crap line still couldn't come close to blocking well enough to maintain the line of scrimmage, let alone gain yards.

The weird thing is though is that the ref threw the flag 5-10 yards after that took place. The only reason I can think of that it threw it for that hold was because it happened near Knox and when the ref saw him catching the ball he thought that it was an impactful hold where as, if Hester caught it, it wouldn't have been.

I don't understand why if that was the hold that was the penalty why the ref threw the flag when he did. It almost looks like he is looking at a different part of the field when he throws the flag too.

This is where I'm at. I'm still convinced that the play threw him off and he figured it was illegal or something, just wasn't thinking when he threw the flag. Maybe he thought Hester called for a fair catch?

I don't review every kickoff or punt with as much detail as this one seems to be receiving, but I'd bet an argument could be made that this type of "hold" probably happens on every single one of them. Unless a guy is noticeably taken out of the play or is taken to the ground, it would seem like a play like this is probably better left uncalled.

Do we really want flags on EVERY punt and kickoff return?

There is also the mysterious number that was assigned as the guilty party, 29 I think it was, which I don't recall anyone wearing for the Bears since Adrian Peterson wore it a few seasons ago.

I....uh....never defended the officials, I just said that it wasn't that impactful but I guess that's more ridiculous than complaining that I lost that dollar I was going to use to buy that lottery ticket for a lottery that I probably wasn't going to win anyways.

I suppose though that I have bitched about calls before that weren't very impactful myself so I suppose I understand where you all are coming from.

first of all, the missed PI on woodson when he fell into hester like an oaf was pretty impactful. because it wasn't called, the bears punted and gave the packers great field position, which they used to score a TD. the punt return was just another bad call by the refs.

I know, I admitted that in an earlier post. That's why I'm surprised there wasn't more complaining about that one. Fact, is I'd be more upset about that one then the punt return.

The punt return was just a cooler play and the last one.

I'm really not trying to be an A-hole (ok, I probably was a-holeish on in a post or two). I've had discussions/arguements with fans of my team on other boards regarding stuff like this as well. There is a lot of time until next Sunday and I like posting about the game that took place. Fact is I enjoy posting on this site more than other ones.

the problem is, a call like that probably sabotaged our season, and i've seen the packers get the benefit of every call and every break for about what, 10 weeks in a row? it's frustrating to watch things like this continue to happen for a team that i'm not fond of. the packers are the better team, i'm not saying the bears are better by any stretch, but their run of luck has been nothing short of astonishing.

Says the fan of the team that was considered the luckiest team ever in 2010. Not trying to defend the Packers, but while I hated hearing about how lucky we supposedly were last year, we did get to play the [expletive] Seahawks in the playoffs. It doesnt get much luckier than that.

isn't 5-10 yards for guys who probably run 4.5 40's at most just one second?

in the video you see the flag before Knox has even caught the ball

he threw the flag WELL after they had separated. and besides, the only image that looks anything like a hold is the very last one, so it couldn't have been very blatant or lasted longer then a split second. If Woodson can trip over his own damn two feet and completely impede Hester, then I would think they could overlook a slight tug on the shoulder pad of two guys running down the field at full speed. Especially when the pursuer isn't running in any direction that would indicate he is headed towards the ball.

I really don't think winning 3 tough road games to get to the Super Bowl, then beating a very good Steelers team is "luck."

I'm not saying the Packers have been extra lucky, but there's absolutely nothing in your statement that suggests the Packers weren't lucky.

I hate the Packers, but the idea that they are lucky is silly. How many starters were injured for them last year? They were so lucky to have all those injuries.

Pretty much this. The Packers are talented, and they're deep as hell. Anyone who says they're lucky and actually means it is a moron.
