yeah, it says the bears are the worst pass defense, which is misleading, because you assume the second-to-last-rated or third-to-last-rated would be somewhat close to them in futility, but you'd be wrong. there are only 32 teams in the league. Edited by Stannis

I can see that argument with Schaub but I'd still take Freeman and Bradford over him. Bradford had the worst WR corps in the league last year and Freeman had an absurd TD/INT ratio as well. I would think those two (especially Bradford) will only get better in due time.

freeman got sacked half as much as cutler and bradford would get smooshed and go away forever.

Freeman's offensive line was actually almost as bad last year

Clearly Cutler was under way more pressure, running for his life way more.

and yet freeman got sacked half as much despite cutler being one of the best scramblers not named vick in the league.

this makes no sense

Briggs and Drew Rosenhaus officially request a trade from the Bears...

"The Bears made their decision, now I have to make mine," Briggs said. "It's just how the business works. It's not going to take away from what I do on the field. I'm 100 percent a Bear, until I'm not a Bear anymore."

Briggs was willing to wait until after the season before seeking a trade but changed his mind after meeting with Angelo on Sunday.

"I understand and respect their decision," Briggs said.

i know you all really really want to open our eyes to how much bears players suck, though. we are wayward meatballs, you got us.

Who said that? There's nothing wrong with saying Josh Freeman is better than Jay Cutler. In fact, it's quite true.

I don't know how those numbers at the link were calculated, but Football outsiders has the Bears pass protection 32nd by a pretty big margin over the 31st team, and has the Buccaneers as the 13th best pass protecting team last year.

I heard someone say trade Briggs for Asante Samuel. Our Backup Lb's seem to suck but this trade might make sense for both teams.

So with Conte and Steltz hurt last night we literally have zero depth at safety. Neither injury sounds serious, but I would have to think their status for Week 1 is in jeopardy.

Briggs is being a female dog. This is so annoying....

His timing with this BS is about as good as getting into a car accident on one's wedding day.

No [expletive]. It's not the first time we've gone through this with him either. I'd say trade his ass if losing him wouldn't be so devastating to our D.

On the other hand, why not just re-work his contract and make him happy? It's not like we can't afford it.

Still gotta do other extensions. Forte first. Garza is one that is gonna need to get done too. Plus it sets a precedent for future players that aren't happy in the middle of their contract.

At least he's saying it won't affect his on the field play. I'll just believe that until shown otherwise.

I don't see the Bears entertaining it at the moment, mostly because everyone is trying to ramp up for the start of the season and that's where the focus should be.

Now -- I'm not in those offices, I don't know what's being said. But if I was Angelo, I'd just say look, it's not the right time to do this. How about after the season? To me, that's a reasonable position to take. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.
