in my experience, hipsters don't drink PBR because they're trying to be ironic...they drink it because they're usually broke as [expletive]...that job making sammiches at the local vegan deli doesn't pay all that well.

Correct.

Eh, but they also choose PBR over any other cheap beer. And if you are ever in a "hipster" bar you will find the PBR marked up over other cheap beer, and they choose it still.

Also I have a totally different view of hipsters as far as being broke goes. Sure some might be legitimately broke, but others are "broke" even though their parents are paying their rent and they buy expensive Ray Bans to go with their thrift store shirt and designer jeans. So its a mixed bag.

Anyways this is off topic and I should probably just start a thread in Rants.

Old Style to Coors Light seems kind of lateral, no?

Dogfish ftw.

Yeah, Dogfish should be the mass consumed beer at Cubs games.

That and Rogue Dead Guy Ale.

I shudder to think what stadium prices would be for that.

If I ever find myself in a true hipster bar, I assure you I won't stick around long enough to figure out what they're drinking. Bloody hipsters. Am I the only one who roots for Benny in Rent?

I thought that's what Busch Light is for.

Busch Light, Old Style, PBR and Keystone are all battling it out for dominance in the shallow gene pool market.

You can go straight to hell for lumping PBR in there

Hipster?

You don't have to be hipster to like PBR. The head brewmaster at Bells calls PBR the best mass produced lager beer in America.

Hipsters drink it ironically, beer lovers drink it because it's good.

Where did you ever hear crap like that?? The "head brewmaster" at Bells has no opinion on PBR. Dont make [expletive] up.

There's a new one I see for $2.99 a sixer every time I walk into a Walgreens, but I can;t think of the name. I'm actually surprised that bums aren't flocking to it every time they manage to rack up $3 and change in nickels and dimes.

Man, I remember buying 12 packs of Keystone Ice in college for like $4. I could get hammered cheap! I haven't tried the Big Flats, but I'm slightly tempted every time I see it.

The faux-promotion Colbert did was pretty awesome and made we want to try it.

I went to high school and college with him. His name is Rik Dillenger. You can find him on the Bells webpage. Larry started the brewery and he, Rik, and a guy named Rob Scalla (who I also went to high school with) invented the beers. Rob died in 2007 around thanksgiving.

I don't make [expletive] up.

What is a hipster's favorite Cubs player?

He's an obscure bench player. You've probably never heard of him.

Is it Blake DeWitt? The former 2 WAR at 22 year old who was being productive for the Dodgers last year, but hasn't found it at 25 with the Cubs sounds like a perfect candidate.

I'm a DeWitt fan actually, and think he can pretty much be at least a Jeff Baker type in the coming years. So basically I said that to say that I liked Blake DeWitt before he was cool when the time comes.

My guess is that by the time DeWitt figures out, if he does he'll be playing elsewhere and replaced with Ryan Flaherty.

Oh, and Darwin Barney would be the answer to the original question. Why? Because The Man prefers Starlin Castro.

I'm the farthest thing from a hipster you'll ever meet and I proudly keep PBR long necks in the fridge at all times. It's great stuff. It's usually a difficult choice between the PBR and the High Life every time I thirsty for a tasty beer.

If they wanted to do a local brew they couldn't go wrong with Goose Isand.

That would be awesome. I would gladly pay the extra dollar or two for a "premium" beer like at First Midwest Amphitheater.

Yeah, Goose Island should be a mass consumed beer at Cubs games.

Why the hell not? Even most morons like 312.

Because it would cost $10 and Goose Island doesn't make cans.

I'd bet you if GI had the opportunity to sell mass quantities at Wrigley, they'd fashion a plastic bottle and it wouldn't cost us $10.

I could have sworn that Goose Island was added to Wrigley's premium beer selection this season. It may be 312.

In any event, with Anheuser-Busch now owning Goose Island, I'm sure it'll happen eventually.
