So I read this article: http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=NFLDK2K11_TMRManifesto

What do you guys think of this? I have the 4th pick in the draft, if he's there do I take Michael Vick? If I do, how long can one usually wait to pick up a 2nd QB worth something?

My initial thought was to pick up someone like Jamaal Charles, but if Vick really does provide that many points than it would be worth a shot, no?

Would say, Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning be a better pick than Jamaal Charles? And take my chance on a 2nd round RB?

Alrighty. So with the 4th pick 1 of either Vick/Adrian Peterson/Chris Johnson/Arian Foster will get to me. So, should be easy then right? Or would those out there pass on Foster for again, someone like Jamaal Charles? The chart he showed of 18+ TD RB's and their following season was pretty damning.

In a league with a guy who has played before and is the league's commissioner, and he took Dallas Clark with the 5th overall pick.

Caleb Hanie went in the 2nd round of one I was in last week. Needless to say, the guy's a Chicago meatball. I encourage incompetence from my fellow team owners.

Wow you ended up with Vick, Mendenhall AND Steven Jackson? Nice

Yeah not sure how Jackson fell to me. I actually ended up picking 7th in a snake draft, so I picked Steven Jackson in the late 3rd. In fact he wasn't the only RB to fall way too far. Forte was there in the 4th round (he was ranked way too low in ESPN rankings and people were going off that I'm guessing) and I'm pretty sure I screwed up there because I took Vincent Jackson knowing I had 2 RBs and no WR's yet. And the WR picks were getting thin already. But Forte is a lock to score more points and there's 3 starting RB spots. So, how dumb was this? Should I put off WR every time in a situation like that?

I have a lot to learn about fantasy.

I have two teams. One is in a 14-team league, the other was an 8-team. Drafting an 8-team league was amazing after how deep I had to dig on the 14.

14-team league (PPR):

QB Tony Romo

RB Ray Rice

RB Daniel Thomas

RB/WR Michael Bush

WR Hakeem Nicks

WR Brandon Marshall

TE Jimmy Graham

Def Atlanta

K Billy Cundiff

Bench

Joe Flacco

Sydney Rice

Braylon Edwards

Donald Brown

Eddie Royal

Anthony Dixon

Matt Hasselbeck (Third QB due to bye week fail with the first two. Hoping one of Flacco or Romo becomes good trade bait.)

After that draft, the 8-team draft was so much fun:

QB - Philip Rivers

RB - LeSean McCoy

RB - Frank Gore

Flex - Ryan Grant

WR - Roddy White

WR - Mike Williams

TE - Antonio Gates

D - Bears

K - Gould (Selected for purely homerism purposes, will prob change Ks frequently)

Bench

Steve Johnson

Shonn Greene

Chad Ochocinco

Austin Collie

Daniel Thomas

Jay Cutler (again with the homerism)

Nate Burleson

Unless you drafted him out of slot, there's no reason to put a disclaimer there. Gould is a fine choice for K.

I had the most infuriating draft of my life last night. I picked 8th (of 10), which I had decided beforehand was probably about the worst draft position I could get. It gets to me, and Charles is still there, but I'm not high on him at all. Got Andre Johnson with second pick, then ended up with Hillis (another guy I didn't want) as the other starting RB and Benson as a backup. Mike Williams (TB) is my second starting WR and Witten is my TE. I missed out on the top QBs, as I always seem to do, so I waited awhile and ended up with Cutler. Jesus.

So, my starting lineup is:

Cutler

Charles

Hillis

A. Johnson

M. Williams

Witten

Kaeding

Pitt D

I reached to get the #1 rated K and D because I figured the rest of my team already sucked anyway.

It was just a frustrating night. 4 times the guy I had targeted for my next pick was taken by the guy right ahead of me, including Rodgers in the first round.

I don't really like Charles either, but you were pretty much forced there. I think Hillis has been really undervalued due to his overwhelming whiteness. I like him in the 3rd.

I refuse to reach for a kicker. I rarely even draft them.

Haha, I'm not going to say that didn't factor into my reasoning. And I totally agree with you about Charles. I just hate not even being able to really like my first pick.

My league is odd in that it requires you to draft 2 QB, 4 RB, 4 WR, 2 TE, 2 K and 2 D. So after I had my starting QB and TE and top 3 WRs and RBs, so basically Round 9, I saw no reason not to take the top rated D and K.

I can see your point on defense, but a kicker is a kicker is a kicker.

EDIT: I see now those aren't starting spots, just roster spots.

Still, with Cutler as your QB, I'd make sure to get one of the best backups before worrying about the difference between Nate Kaeding and Neil Rackers.

I agree with you, and that's where it got really frustrating. Right as it was coming toward my pick guys like Eli, Kolb, Freeman, Stafford and Bradford all went off the board. So I spent that pick on Pierre Thomas as my 4th RB. I don't want to say who I ended up taking as my backup QB, but his name rhymes with Sex Closeman.

The difference between a RB that averages 4 carries a game an a RB that averages 3 carries a game is a greater difference than that between the #1 kicker and the #32 kicker.

This must have been an "interesting" fantasy week for your team
