CUBS are 38-4 when they lead at the end of the 8th inning
Cubs are 49-0 when they lead at the end of the 9th inning or later. :D

You sure we haven't taken the lead in extra innings and blown it this year?

There wouldn't be extra innings if we lead after the 9th ;)

The end of the 9th is still the end of the 9th whether you're on the road or at home. If the Cubs hold a lead after 9 innings of baseball have been played, then they can't blow it.

Well, no, not after the completion of an inning, but all he said was after the 9th. And they could have a lead after 9.5 innings.

No, he didn't say after the 9th. He said, "at the end of the 9th or later."

I meant at the END of an inning (9th or later), but technically the way I worded it could be interpreted as taking the lead in the top of the 10th, in which case they could blow it.

This all actually doesn't matter, the Cubs are 6-3 in extra innings this year and in the 3 losses never led after the 9th.

Also, of the nine, 4 occured on the road (The only place this matters, as leading after the 9th at home means the game is over; 5-0 at home in EI, 1-3 otr.). In the 1 win on the road, they took the lead and didn't blow it.

As nice as 7 in a row is, why do they have to do it now when there's no shot of a division title and they're only hurting their draft status? I just don't want there to be even the remotest chance at a respectable record where Hendry could weasel his way into yet another incompetent year on the job.

Seven in a row would have been nice in April or May, guys. Just sayin'.

The remote chance of any of that mattering is balanced out by the remote chance of Fielder or Pujols deciding the Cubs are close enough to be worth it.

That is probably a much more valid observation of the situation. On top of that it's supposed to be a fairly weak draft class in 2012, right? No sense crying about wins. What will happen, will happen. Enjoy it. Lord knows we haven't seen enough of them to wish otherwise.

No kidding. The Cubs are so [expletive] far from looking decent over the season that anyone bitching about this win streak is just looking for reasons to bitch.
