Barney's the only player being out that seems excessive given how young he is.

 

My impression is that Barney has not had much time off this year since he took over the starting role. He's played in every game since the ASG and started all but one, plus he's struggled at the plate since the break. I don't have a problem with him sitting, and at this stage in the game there's no reason to worry about forfeit lineups. Although it would be nice to prevent Dusty's Reds from overtaking Pittsburgh for 4th place.

 

Yeah, good point. Plus DeWitt's actually had a decent (for him) last couple of weeks, albeit in a very limited capacity.

 

 

Going back to the Barney point, was he the one that struggled to get down a sac bunt in Pittsburgh? Could that be the reason he's sitting, and not just the normal need for rest?
