Ben Wells gave up an IF single, walk, GO fielder's choice (failed GIDP), sac fly and a pop out. 2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 3-1 GO-FO.

Reggie Golden just a bases loaded walk in the top of the 3rd. The Hawks got the bases loaded and the run in on 4 consecutive walks between 2 pitchers.

Yeah, I doubt he'd even be in my top 30, but it doesn't change the fact(unless there's stuff we aren't privy to) I'd put him on the 40 man this offseason. In fact, if he strings together 2-3 decent outings in a row, I'd call him up and see if he builds on it. Can't hurt, with the state of our current 40 man anyway. Lots of throwaway spots as it is.......

Wells - 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 5-1 GO-FO but both of his strikeouts were at Donovan Tate's expense so maybe we should take the strikeouts with a grain of salt.

Wells - 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP, 6-2 GO-FO. The only 2 velocity readings I've heard on his FB were a 93 and a 95. His splitter has been described as filthy.

4 runs on 1 hit and 0 for 3 RISP hitting for the Hawks. Confusing.

Wells' final line - 5 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HBP, 8-2 GO-FO. They got the bases loaded on him with none out on a double, bunt single and a walk but he got a 4-6-3 DP and a K to get out of the jam with only 1 run surrendered.

Vitters great with the bat today, but also thrown out trying to steal and picked off.

Same play, you get both when you get picked off. Strangely enough, milb.com says the pickoff play went 1-3-1. Curious how exactly that happened.

Tyler Colvin is a single away from the cycle.

And he gets it with 2 outs in the 9th.

that was definitely all him? seems odd to have a high school draftee face throw that many pitches in the season opener.

W Castillo is VERY hot.

8 HR in 28 games at Iowa.

He's always been a hitter who lives to strike out, but somehow he's gone six straight games without striking out. A composite season can be built pretty heavily one one or two hot weeks like the one he's having.

penalver was 2-3 (both hits doubles) with a walk. 13 bb/5 k on the year... also had a CS and an error playing SS. candelario had a double in 3 AB.

btw, is there a place we could sticky signings and bonus amounts? it's hard to remember who were the big bonus guys among the latin american guys, as well as how much the far east guys signed for, etc. right now the info is scattered about various threads.

Yeah, that'd be really helpful. If I remember with the latin American guys last year, one of Penalver or Canderario got 550,000 and the other got 500,000. Sanchez and Baez each got 350,000. Mineo got 225,000 and I think we spread out a mill or so to about 5-6 other July 2nd signees, including Abreu, Santana, and Gonzalez......

As cool as it is to see Vitters "getting it" the best news tonight is Wells' velo reports. Gotta hand it to Toonster, he was first on this bandwagon by a longshot and it's cool to see he's got some serious potential from the early looks of things......

Yeah, he's stretched out from extended spring training though.

I'd guess the pitcher caught him taking off, ran at him to freeze him, throw to first when he retreated, return throw to pitcher.
