Why? The Cards drafted His son.

Kansas

But earlier this week, Martini told his wife that he was going to take all of his Cubs clothing — shirts, hats, etc. —and burn them. No, not because of Chicago's recent eight-game losing streak that sent them free-falling in the NL Central. It's because his son, Nick, a Kansas State outfielder and the 2010 Big 12 Player of the Year, was drafted by the previously-despised St. Louis Cardinals.

He obviously wasn't much of a fan to begin with. My friend from junior/high school plays for the Rockies and yet I still manage to wear my Cubs Jersey.

You don't see the difference?

Yeah his son versus just my friend, plus it's a divisional rival, but so what?

I can understand why he would start rooting for the Cardinals but why does he have to burn all his Cubs stuff?

I guess a better question is why am I even wasting any time wondering about why this idiot is doing something that has no impact on my life?

You should blame him. These are the actions of an idiot, a child or a maniac.

In the opinion of one man. That's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

I don't really care too much about this but the first thing that came to my mind is that there are people in need of clothes out there that you could donate to or something of that nature.

Yes, that would probably be the preferable option, all things considered. Give it to a St. Vincent's or Goodwill or something, or even just a random homeless guy.

I find this move a bit drastic. If a relative of mine were drafted by another team, I'd still remain a Cubs fan. Now, if that relative made it all the way to the majors, I might start rooting for that team. But, I don't think I'd burn all my stuff. That's just crazy!
