Is there a reason Kurcz is starting? He was damn good out of the pen last year.

Because if he can be damn good as a starter it would be more valuable. And even if he can't, he gets more innings for development this way.

Szczuzuzr 3-3, all singles. Nothing else to speak of on the farm so far this evening.

Does anyone watch game on MiLB.tv? Does it only mainly broadcast AAA games?

I don't use it, but from what I've heard you can get most AAA games, some AA games, and scattered games at levels below that. I don't think the picture quality is up to the standard of MLB.tv, but not unusably bad or anything. That's second hand though, like I said I haven't used it.

A better question is why is Robert Coello still starting.

my guess would be that too many guys have been pushed up from A+ already (Struck/Whitenack as starters, some pen arms), and there really aren't that many other options to turn to, so Coello's around to fill a system arm role. Wouldn't surprise me if he was pushed aside at some point, when other bumps start happening. That said, outside of Rosscup, hard for me to see who could get the bump to AA, so maybe Coello sticks around as a starter for a bit.

Really strong game for Kyung-Min Na at Peoria too.

And so did Jeimer Candelario for the DSL Cubs 2.

Saw that, then saw his line.

.277/.365/.323

A LF with 15 singles and 3 doubles and a relatively high number of strikeouts, 18. Still only 19 though. What's his story?

Na's playing LF because they want to give Szczur time in CF. While Na might be the better defensive CF, Szczur has the higher overall upside, so he'll likely get priority in development (and Szczur's a good defensive CF in his own right). Speedy, undersized high bonus kid from South Korea. AzPhil has indicated that he's been developing a better line drive stroke.

He signed out of Korea a few years ago for a big bonus ($750k). He's one of the fastest guys in the system and walks a ton. When he signed, the reports said he was scrawny and small and his power numbers seem to bear that out. His strikeouts are perplexingly high for such a lack of power. He only plays LF because Szczur is around, he's considered the best defensive CF in the system.

Any idea why Szczur isn't in Daytona yet? A college player with his stats in Peoria indicate he needs tougher competition.

He's still more raw than the average college draftee because of his football commitment. Even then, his patience and power aren't out of this world good, and CF is a deep deep position in the system, so giving him more than 175 PA's before promoting him isn't the worst idea. His time definitely seems to be coming though.

Ha and Jackson. My guess is once Jackson gets going, he'll move up to AAA, followed by Ha to AA and Szczur to Daytona.
