Injuries.

Yes, injuries are the reason we had Doug Davis start tonight.

The fact we could not find someone better than Doug Davis is the bigger problem.

No, finding a less crappy spot starter is not a bigger problem than a starting pitcher going down for a significant period of time with an injury. Not in any kind of sane universe.

Good job Cubbies. keep your eye on the prize. Dont forget, the Fecal League doesnt have a Wild Card.

A few weeks ago I had hope this team could contend for the division. Now I'm hoping for a top five draft pick and a cleaned front office. If we're gonna [expletive] it up, let's [expletive] it up good and proper. Eyes on the prize.

We have 8 Hits tonight and 1 run, the Reds have 10 Hits and 8 Runs. The lack of power on this team is [expletive] pathetic.

So is the complete inability to draw a walk. The only players with decent OBPs are Fukudome and Pena.

Wow, I didnt realize that not only did we let a pitcher who was demoted to AAA and brought back up out of necesity throw a gem, but Miguel [expletive] Cairo hit a grand slam. This team takes bad to a whole new level.

The only good news is that the Cubs had a solid draft so

far. Dunston Jr. will be an impossible sign. If we sign Gretzky Jr., cool.

If we sign Maples then the Cubs climb into the Pirates/Nationals echelon.

So who gets hurt next?

My guess is Ramirez.

Nah. Ramirez has already missed a few games. It's going to be Castro.

Bite your tongue. Castros future actually matters. I could care less what happens to the old guys.

I know I"m ignorant in these sorts of matters, but if a player is deemed an "impossible" sign, why waste a draft pick on him, even if it's one in the 11th round?

An 11th rounder isn't going to net you much if you go safe. If you can take a chance on a seemingly impossible sign who might actually sign, it can easily be worth the risk.
