23/1 K/BB in 19 IP and a sub-1 ERA.

Realistically, how long before he gets bumped to AA?

Well, he was the last cut at Tennessee this spring so he's really close. Probably whenever they're ready to promote Dolis to AAA.

Sweet. Thanks.

Perfect thru 5.

Should I be impressed that Vitters is striking out at such a tiny percentage or worried that he only has decent numbers even what that's true? It's clear he has that elite plate coverage tool that you can't teach but I'm concerned that he's just putting a lot of bad pitches into play.

Edit: Didn't see Truffle's post that basically said the same thing until I posted mine.

i share the same concern - it's nice that he is making contact (and his K rate is down from last year), but it seems like he needs to learn how to pick pitches to drive rather than just getting his bat on everything.

He may very well fill the void left by Archer. Was Whitenack even on any of the Cubs top prospects list going into this season? I remember hearing bits and pieces about him last year, but not all that much.

Heh, I had him in my top-20, (pat self on back), but I don't think anybody else did. And even as a fan, what I liked about him and optimistically projected doesn't at all match with what he's done now. THis profile has changed.

Last year the profile was a strike-throwing groundball guy, pitch-to-contact. As such, he was low walk/low K/high hits, but with low HR's I thought he had a chance to work and he was highly projectible. But he was anything but dominant. And while I projected that he *might* get stronger and faster, I didn't anticipate turning into a dominant unhittable K-guy.

The carryover is the control and the extreme groundball profile. But the dominant unhittable K-guy, that's new.

I think that's what can happen when a good control pitcher comes up with a knockout breaking ball.

I know this kinda jumps between forums, but i gotta ask.

I've got an opportunity to watch a couple games on 4/30 and 5/1 in Nashville. Would I be better off watching Vanderbilt vs. Tennessee (college) or Nashville vs. Albuquerque (AAA, from the looks of it.) ? Also, who should I be watching for? I'm catching a Stone Temple Pilots concert 5/1 and might not be able to watch all of that game.

Whoever convinces me to do what they'd like me to go to wins a half-assed scouting report from a guy who is pretty likely to be drunk enough to spend 10 minutes fixing up his post to look like this.

Nice... I wish I can see STP again. I saw them 11 years ago and it was AMAZING!!! One of the best concerts I've been to (I've probably been to 30-40 concerts so far and I'm 26). Halfway through the show, Scott Weiland just got naked and wrapped himself with an American flag. Then he went on and finished the concert like that. Dude was messed up, but it was an amazing show.

Take the Tennessee-Vandy game for sure. You've got Sonny Gray(Friday night starter) who's likely a top 10 overall pick, Jason Esposito, who's a 1st rounder, Curt Casali, Grayson Garvin, Navery Moore, and Aaron Westlake who are all 2-5th round type talents. Taylor Hill will get taken as well. That's all on Vandy's team, by the way, and they have other non-draft eligible guys who are worth watching too.
