just contract them and gives us ethier, kemp, billingsley and kershaw.

What are the contract situations of these guys? Im assuming Kershaw has several years under team control, but Kemp, Ethier, and Billingsly have to be at least arb eligable soon. If this mess isnt sorted out, I wonder what kind of effect it will have on these guys.

Ethier and Kemp are free agents after next year. Kershaw and Billingsley are both under team control through 2014(Billingsley has a 2015 team option).

It's really amazing that it's come to this. It's not a Montreal Expos type of situation. There's no reason why the Dodgers shouldn't be a highly successful major league baseball organization.

Montreal Expos type of situation = being owned by Satan

A good owner could have made Montreal work. A bad owner, well... we know the end of that story.

It shouldn't matter whether the Dodgers have a good or bad owner. They should be making money hand over fist regardless. It's the freakin' Dodgers! An iconic team in the second biggest market in the country.

Well McCourt made it work on the surface, he just never had any money, and never should've been allowed to own it in the first place. This is as much Selig's fault for arranging the ownership as it is McCourt for being a crook.

The good news is, if they can force a sale of the team, it will probably turn around for them fairly quickly.

to the contrary, Mike and Mike had a guy from ESPN LA on this morning who said it could be a very lengthy process, as McCourt is likely to hold everything up in court

I meant once they get clear of McCourt. They've got the market, and good brand recognition. It's not like the Expos -- the Dodgers should be able to revive what they had.

But yeah, if this thing turns into a years-long legal war it would be a shame.

BTW, this story prompted me to check out Dodger Blues.....and the forum is gone! Anyone know what happened?

The regulars had a habit of digging into the (very) personal info of posters they didn't like. Probably got sued.

Moreso than ever, it seems like stadium is a huge part of the equation. And the Dodgers are definitely behind the curve on that one.

Are the Dodgers, with their market and history, ahead of teams like the Twins (Target Field) or even the Brewers?

That's really just speculation on my part, but I remember them getting real nasty with one guy in particular a while back who threatened it. A boxing forum got shut down a few years ago for something similar.
