Word is they're hopeful he can get up to around 87-88 by spring training next year. Might switch to lefty.

Last I checkes he was going to be out of baseball for the next 5 years and resurface on a minor league deal with an invite to spring training with the Orioles.

He was having a great outing, and it sucks that he went down, but truth be told, hes a 5 starter, and its not going to kill us. Casey Coleman will likely get the first crack at the job if need be, and we have Carpenter and Jackson if he falters, unless Quade really goes rogue and brings up McNutt, which I personally wouldnt recomend, but I didnt expect to see Starlin Castros big league debut until 2012-2013, so who knows.

You can talk about injuries, but if someone tries to make a catch-all injury thread I will end them.

What the hell difference does it make if there's a thread for updates on an injury?

DONT EVEN TALK ABOUT IT

So naive.

its not going to kill us.

Trying to stay afloat by avoiding a key blow that could kill the team isn't the point. The point is that there's some serious upside there that won't get the chance to benefit the team if he misses any chunk of time.

P. Sullivan says (twitter) hes off to get an MRI. We've been through this with our pitchers enough to know that means he'll have to recover from the ink at the bear minimum.

This year, maybe not, but the big picture is a little different. It isn't a good sign when a guy who is projected by many as your future top-of-the-rotation starter already has discomfort after one career start.

Considering the uneventful brevity of O'Neal's mound visit, I'm going to try to be optimistic and hope he's not seriously injured and they were simply lifting him at the first hint of trouble. The organization has repeatedly stated Cashner's long term importance to the team. Here's hoping their merely being cautious.
