I don't really understand the bickering over a recruit like this period, there are a lot of unknowns and I won't claim to know anything about recruiting because I really don't but don't recruiting services take things like what school recruited a players and what state they played ball in into account? I'm sure a player from Illinois would be rated higher than a player from Iowa in most cases unless they are someone like Harrison Barnes.

I'm not saying this is the case, I'm just saying that maybe it's the reason Woodbury is rated lower?

Well, that might work if Leonard wasn't from a pretty small school in the middle of nowhere southern Illinois. On a Chicago kid, maybe.

I have no idea, I was just curious as to how these rankings work really and was just bringing forth the question. I'm not trying to argue who is better because I don't follow recruiting. I'm just more excited that Iowa has a few players who are worth a damn now.

It's a great get. Anytime you can fend of UNC to keep a kid at home it's reason to be excited. I like what Fran is doing in Iowa City a lot.

The best NBA player to ever come from Iowa is Kirk Hinrich.

Ricky Davis grew up in Iowa.

Hater. Ricky was the truth. Stupid NBA with rules like you can't shoot at your own goal in order to get a triple double.

Illinois fans are nothing if not consistent. Every off season is full of hope with all these future stars and prospects, and every season is a bitch fest about how none of them pan out

Fans of Mascotless School A are making fun of another B1G team's recruit?

You don't say.

Nice grab Iowa. Hope you guys continue your upswing.

Chief Illiniwek was not a mascot.

According to the U of I's website, Chief was a mascot:

"On February 21, 2007, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign retired the Chief Illiniwek as its mascot."

lol - where were you during the years we were bitching about not getting any decent recruits?

Comparing Chief Illiniwek to Bucky Badger is apples and oranges. Although the Chief may have been considered a "mascot" by the NCAA and the University, his presence at athletic events was brief, ceremonial and as a member of the band. Mascots are glorified cheerleaders, whereas the Chief represented much more to a great deal of Illini. Although I'm not surprised the University decided that it was better off without Illiniwek, and I fully understand their reasons for doing so, comparing the Chief to a conventional college mascot cheapens the legacy.

none of you have any right to bitch about mascots. My alma mater is a freaking rodent. A GOLDEN rodent, but a rodent non-the-less

I propose Minnesota switch mascots to Mr. Kim Kardashian and become the Fighting Neanderthals.

I propose USC switches to the other kind of trojan.
