Watching every single baseball game 24 hours a day would take 300 days

I'm guessing this guy is watching everything live, with multiple tvs. Still that will be some long days with east coast day games and west coast night games. I wonder what the pay is for this?

That fan was ejected.

Which is a shame because it was obvious he did not intentionally spill his $8 beer down onto the field, it appeared he was looking up at the incoming ball and nothing more.

While I agree with his intent not being there, ultimately I think it should be his responsibility for the thing entering the field.

Would've been nice to get a fly ball with less than two outs, but I guess that's tough to do against a crappy Pirates pitcher.

Sit down Hurdle, you're embarrassing yourself.

If he isn't lobbying for the fan interference call there he's not doing his job.

On something so clearly not fan interference as that, he's only going to lose goodwill with the umpires.

A beer came toppling towards his outfielder while the ball was in play. He had better get out there.

The fan was reaching for the ball and his beer missed the outfielder. It was obvious from the get go that there wasn't interference.

Agreed, from the camera angle presented. From the dugout, from the field, maybe not so much.

Yeah, Garza does not look like he knows how to swing the bat at all, although can't say I expected differently.

Soto and Soriano with two horrible horrible at bats in a row now.

Has Soto really looked that bad? I recall some scorchers hit right at people.

I mean today. They both fouled out in their first at bats now they both hit shallow/infield flies with a runner on 3rd and 2nd with zero/one out.

2 in scoring position with no outs and can't get either of them in. That's Cobs baseball right there.

hey we got 2 runs with a bases loaded/no outs situation. that's an improvement.

You basically only had only two chances to get them in with the pitcher batting, frustrating, yes but not uncommon for any team.

Is it possible for Barney to have 3 or so errors along with all Ks or GIDPs and for the Cubs to still win? That's what I'm rooting for regardless.

Why the hate? Dude's worked hard to be where he is now. Even if it's for only a week or two, I think it's great that the Cubs organization is rewarding a hard offseason workout program and dramatic improvement at the plate during ST.

I don't hate Barney at all. I just don't think his being even half of a platoon at 2B incrases the Cubs chances or winning a lot of ballgames, let alone him batting in the 2 spot. He is a very soft hitting great gloved SS and yes, that is Quade's fault. Still, anything to get him out of this position I am all for.

Who is better?

Probably every actual 2B we have in the system through AA (and DeWitt)? And probably most of the waiver wire types floating around. I think even some of the more optimistic projections for Barney well into the future has his bat as league average or worse as a 2B.

Baker is probably about equal to Barney against righties on offense, and a bit worse on defense. DeWitt is a bit more impressive on offense, but is significantly worse on defense. About the only real guy in the system that might represent an immediate upgrade is Marquez Smith, and that's if and only if his defense at 2B isn't atrocious. Given his extremely limited playing time, I'm betting it is.

I guess it doesn't matter, but isn't that the alcohol free family section?

The RF bleachers?

Ah, my mistake. ...this Tabata character seems kinda good at baseball. Think we can get him in a trade for a group of AAAA players?
