that's totally unfair. you can no longer be a blackhawks fan.

I like football a lot more than hockey. It is what it is.

Can't speak for either fanbase, but the Hawks had the most anti-climatic championship ending in the history of pro sports.

Only because of the announcing, if they had seen the puck it would have been one of the greatest ever.

Wasn't Kane the only guy on the ice who actually realized the puck went in also? It wasn't like the announcers missed some obvious play.

But I agree with the general sentiment - the way that game ended definitely made it anticlimactic.

I think Sharp did too. I remember he reacted to it and said something about seeing it go in. But yeah everyone else in the arena was wondering why Kane went to the other end of the ice celebrating like a mad man. Even his teammates were extremely tentative in celebrating at first.

so, Jarius Wynn had a pretty good day

Yeah, you win a Super Bowl and have a kid. Do you pretty much just end your life now because nothing will ever top that?

it would never happen because none of my teams win EXCEPT FOR THE BLACKHAWKS, let alone the two most important ones. can't say i'd have any pity for the packers if the situations were reversed, though.

Fixed.

hey go easy on sulley, his teams have only won 8 championships since one of my teams won one. but don't worry, the glow of that 1983 sixers championship has not worn off yet. i remember jumping around like a four year old, mostly because that's how old i was when it happened.

I may be a big [expletive] for this but I am fighting back tears when I see Woodson with the trophy or replays of him walking off at half time because I know how much this game meant to him. I love that guy.

I'm going to do everything I can to take work off on Tuesday so I can make it to Green Bay. I'll be crying like a little bitch all day if that happens.

I really want to but that's not something I can do. But I know for sure I am going to find a way to buy all kinds of championship [expletive]. I know for sure I need the DVD and the shirt and I know I'll buy more crap than that.

if the cubs pull a 2003 this year, i will take solace and delight in knowing that you are cubs fans too.

Sure, but the notion that everyone on the planet should flip on Animal Planet for 20 minutes, is, frankly, silly. Or anything else for that matter.

anyone who would rather watch the black eyed peas or a band that was good 40 years ago rather than puppies playing is a bad person.

My father's wife watched every moment of the halftime show and declared it good. And she's a lawyer.

Yup. Also, I had to explain to her and her son who that guitarist her son thought was Ozzy Osbourne actually was and what band he was in/why he was there. :banghead:

My favorite Super Bowl hors d'ouevre is diced chicken, wrapped in thick cut bacon, and coated in a mixture of brown sugar and chili powder. Sweet, salty and hot. Totally making them again.

oh lord, hit me with some pictures or something, that sounds off the charts

http://www.royalbaconsociety.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/bacon-wrapped-chicken.jpg

Recipe later, once I find it.

UPDATE:

These were a huge hit and pretty much are the best things I've ever made.

UPDATE:

I ate too many of these/drank way too many cocktails and don't feel well at all.

Or maybe it's the game result. Combination of the three, maybe.

What's 2003?

Wow wow wow, this is quite the year. Duke wins national title, Hawks win the Cup, and now the Packers win the Super Bowl.

It's not too late to catch AIDS.

My friend's wife made those, cept she used lil smokies instead of chicken. Quite tasty.

One of the most underrated and brilliant coaching plays of the game: kicking off with 2:08 left, the Packers pseudo squib kick was a stroke of genius, further helped by the dumb penalty on Pittsburgh. The key was killing the two minute warning as the Steelers had been irresponsible with their timeouts and lost ANOTHER stoppage of the clock.

Just a great game by Aaron Rodgers. If there is any doubt about who the best QB is... dude completed 62% of passes for over 300 yards, 3 TD's, no picks while losing one of his top Wide Receivers and having five drops... This easily could have been a 350/4 performance.

The World Heavyweight Champion indeed.

I know I'm going to sound like a huge homer, so feel free to argue against this, but I'm starting to think the Bears were the only team that could stop the Packers offense. Since that offensive stinker against the Lions, the Packers scored 27 (with Flynn), 45, 10 (against the Bears), 21, 48, and 21 (14 offensive against Bears).

Not to say that the Bears shut down the Packers the last time. They easily could have scored 30+ in the NFC title game. But the Bears really clamped down in the 2nd half and forced Rodgers into a very poor game. They seem to have either a game plan to slow them down or maybe just the personnel.

Lets see how the Steelers D starts the 2nd half

No, but it's clear the Bears have developed a strategy that at least gives them a chance.

It's a really tough offense to stop. Lots of teams found this out. Interestingly -- the Lions fared well too, relatively speaking.

I think the familiarity helps.

I think so too. Don't forget the Lions only fared well because they played against an unprepared Matt Flynn most of the game. If Aaron Rodgers didn't get hurt, the Packers win easily, IMO. I just think the Bears know the Packers really really well by now. The Packers never play well against them. They might have one or two good drives but that's it. Packers defense really needs to step up to win those Packers/Bears game, and that's what happened the last two times.

they always seemed to make a big defensive play when they needed it, it was infuriating.
