I got the sense Martz was experimenting in the 2nd half. It was run run run, followed by some trick play (like the Wildcat formations). It made as much sense as any other time to run those plays since the game was in hand, but I hope I never see Forte throwing the ball out of it again. the other 2 wildcat plays were ok, but we could do with out them

Mike Martz called a terrific game yesterday. The man deserves another chance at a head coaching gig.

You must have missed the Wildcat plays

Only 1 was a bad play, and that was the Forte pass. Don't know why you call that play in a 28-3 game that you are dominating running and passing, but other than that the Bears got a 9 yard run from Bennett and a 3-4 yard run from Taylor out of the wildcat.

actually, the earl bennett play was the best wildcat play i've seen them run this year. if earl cuts inside instead of strangely running into jay, that's a td.

You're right. He should definitely be caned.

Why is it either he gets a headcoach job or he gets fired?

He's a smart offensive coordinator that has his flaws but is in general a great offensive mind. That doesn't necessarily mean he should be a head coach.

I was making a sarcastic point.

I'm not understanding why. Martz didn't hire Jay Zygmunt to draft players and subsequently run the franchise into the ground for the next five years. The organization was a mess. Not saying Martz didn't have his flaws as a head coach, but it doesn't mean that he can't be better.

Martz has gotten the reputation (right or wrong) of being bull-headed. Granted, this season as OC with the Bears he has shown to be above that, but his critics will only say it is because he is an OC and not in full control that he HAS to compromise. Not many front office types are going to give him much of a chance to get around that. there may be one or two, but its not like he is going to be the hottest option out there.

Looking over weekend recaps today, I can't believe there is actually a sentiment that thinks the Seahawks actually got back into the game yesterday. That game was over by halftime, and well over by the second Cutler rushing TD.

and he's not going back to the rams.

I don't want him.

I agree with this. FWIW, I think the only logical place for him was Houston if they had done the right thing and fired Kubiak. I don't think he'd be good for a team like the Panthers, who need a complete overhaul.

If Jason Garrett had gone bust, I think he would've been a good option for Dallas.

yea, it became Martz's "fun time" in the 2nd half. they were running plays and formations that were either strickly vanilla to run out the clock or completely off the wall like Forte's throw

that pisses me off but whatever, let them think that. I'm to the point where I don't think the Bears will get respect unless they win the Super Bowl. Or even then, I'm not sure how much respect we will get, especially if we play the Jets or something. There will always be people that say how lucky we got to even get in the playoffs, then we only had to play 1-2 good teams (the Packers and maybe the Jets) to win the Super Bowl. We lucked into playing the Seahawks, and then we lucked into not having to play the team that beat us by 30 points on our home field in the Super Bowl.

But at that point I won't care because we're Super Bowl champs.

If the Bears do beat the Packers and Jets to win the Super Bowl, that will be the lowest seed combination path for any Super Bowl winner.

martz will have to lead the bears to a top 5 offensive ranking at least 2 years in a row before he is even considered for another hc gig

Bennett was stuck there. The problem with that play was that Cutler was relied on to be the main blocker at the end, which is a flaw in the formation. The key to that play was the misdirection, which could have been accomplished with Cutler in his normal position.

You knew this was coming. Especially after all the Bears need to learn how to finish a game nonsense. What was the biggest lead the Bears had and still lost? They don't lose like that. Their conservative finishes just derease the margin of victory and provide meatball talking points.
