Well it's still true no matter how many titles they luck into.

Sure, it was total luck. By your logic it was "lucky" the Bears even made the NFC Championship because they got to play the woeful Seahawks. GB went on a great run, and played the teams in front of them. I don't know what else you would have expected them to do.

AND it was with a bunch of the regulars on IR. Just wait until the season starts and we have a lot of those guys back.

The Pack are gonna lose a lot of ppls to free agency.

there's nothing worse than watching a bunch of fans who had nothing to do with their team winning anything gloat about that team's success.

well there are things worse than that, but still it's really obnoxious.

Yeah, because I'm sure you'd be so bothered by it if the Bears won the Super Bowl and people here were gloating about it.

I think he would since he's not a Bears fan.

What is the point of cheering for sports, dealing with watching your team lose year after year, having rivalries with opposing fan bases, etc when you can't enjoy a championship to its fullest when your team wins? Yes there's more to enjoying a title than rubbing it into your friends, but that is certainly part of the fun. In fact, you don't even have to be obnoxious while doing it, although some certainly choose to be that way and remind everyone every chance they get. Probably 30% of the reason I want the Cubs to win the world series is so that I don't have to take (as much) crap from Cardinals/White Sox fans about our futility.

Obviously I did jack [expletive] to help them win the (hypothetical) title, but I invested a crapload of my time, spent money, etc. to feel like I'm at least a distant part of the team, and so when they win the title, I don't feel bad celebrating like I myself hit the game winning HR.

There's plenty of difference between celebrating victory and trash talking as a result of it.

yeah i'm not saying you shouldn't celebrate it and be happy about it, and continue to feel happy about it. and i don't blame people for talking trash in the heat of the moment, like people did to me when the blackhawks finished off the flyers in the finals. but the super bowl was 6 months ago; to still be rubbing it in the faces of bears fans is just embarrassing.

I don't really see an issue, erik said that "It's time to defend the title" pretty much at the same time the lockout ended. A, I'm sure he had different reasons for saying it, the obvious being that he was exciting to watch the team try to defend the title . I'm also sure he meant it as a bit of trolling too but whatever, he went back in forth with Bears fans last year a few times and although he did it terribly he did take a lot of crap for it (not saying it was all undeserved) so he through a little shot in there. As long is it stays to a comment that would probably appear on every message board after their team wins a championship at the start of the year who really cares.

Everything else was said in retaliation to UMFan's remark (which was done jokingly in my eyes but it was still said so people are going to make some kind of a comeback).

I guess I just don't see the point of the "I'm a better sports fan" then you stuff in this situation.

are we going to have to hear about the packers winning the super bowl throughout the entire 2011 season? if so then i wish the season had gotten cancelled by the lockout.

Who has gloated about it? I think everyone (sans erik) has handled it pretty level-headed on here. And does erik really count?

I haven't been that bad. Sure, I gloated a bit (and got a BS suspension) after the NFC Championship game, but it was merely in retaliation for all the crap I took during the season, especially after the Week 3 game. Since then I think I've been pretty good. A few minor digs here and there, but nothing too bad.

You gotta admit I've been pretty mellow lately.

Schefter tweeted that the Packers are going trade or release Nick Barnett

That was expected, right?

Yeah, not a huge surprise. I figured he'd be one of the casualties. Still kinda sucks, though. He was good.

lol....Bengals.

Bengals owner Mike Brown said Tuesday what everyone expected Mike Brown to say.

“I’m not expecting [Carson Palmer] to be back. Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment. He gave us his word. We relied on his word and his commitment. We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment we aren’t going to reward him for doing it,” Brown said via the Cincinnati Enquirer when asked about a possible trade.

Nice logic. They could get something of value potentially for Carson, but instead decide not to even shop him simply to spite him. Regardless of whether he's in the right or not, the Bengals are only hurting themselves here.

i wonder if they think palmer's bluffing. palmer's pretty smart, he saved his money and doesn't need to play football anymore. if they don't trade him i'd be shocked if he actually suited up.

it's not like they're going to contend either way. i just can't fathom why the bengals refuse to trade him.

Cowboys to release both Roy Williams and Marion Barber.

Roy Williams is a classic underachiever and a bit of a douchebag, but I would put him below Edwards & Santonio Holmes, but above the old receivers discussed earlier. Probably on par with Sims-Walker and probably cheaper at this point.

I'd say his more than a bit of a douchebag. I think his attitude probably puts him in less demand than he'd otherwise be.

The only thing that interests me about him is 1) he's still young enough at 29 that he can turn his career (and attitude) around if he really wants to and 2) had his best year under Martz with the Lions... But again... I think I have probably at least 5-6 WRs that I would look at or go after before I get to Roy Williams... I would say PASS unless he is like dirt cheap.

I am glad they are doing it. I can't stand how players can sign a contract and then just randomly refuse to play until traded. Less in the NFL where contracts aren't guaranteed, but still. So I'm glad they are taking a stand. And I'm even more glad it's not my team that's taking the stand because I'd kill Angelo for doing it :)

Is it really hurting Carson to refuse to trade him though? By not trading him, you're basically telling an injury prone guy who could use a year off anyway to take a year to continue to rest and rehab and be even more fresh next year when he gets his wish anyway (officially retire and then return and I believe your contract is void).

The Bengals, on the other hand, lose their (granted, aging) franchise QB for nothing when they could have dealt him for a 4th-5th round pick potentially.
