It just doesn't seem like football to me with their goofy field and odd rules.

I can't honestly say I've ever watched it. So I might end up feeling the same as you.

NFL general counsel Jeff Pash made it clear that the lockout won’t end with the negotiation of an agreement in principle. Instead, the doors will be unlocked only after the proverbial i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed.

Thursday night games all season long?

The NFL is hell bent on making sure marriages in America fail.

Not good news for NBC Thursday night comedies.

As long as the games are on NFL Network, rather than NBC, I don't care. I DVR them, and one game between 2 mediocre teams certainly won't be appointment television.

Ugh, Monday night football is bad enough as it is.

Not to get too far off topic, but live ratings are really important for a show's chances. Most of the NBC comedies already were getting a lot of DVR viewers, and I think this will only increase that.

I suppose it depends on what programming is being replaced though.

I don't think the type of meatheads that care about the Bengals/49ers week 7 game are the people watching Thursday Night NBC

You just described 98% of this board

Ok.

By which I mean that most of the people who post about Thursday night comedies probably also watch meaningless football games. I wouldn't consider them meatheads

I dont think anyone pays for NFL network. And even if they do, it's worth it. That channel is great.

I like Thursday. I try to watch the Bears whenever I can. And maybe 1 more game if the teams are good. This gives me one more shot to avoid the dreaded Niners/Raiders doubleheader on Sundays.

I lived in New York for years, and I move to the one other metro area in the country that has 2 teams.

Sal Paolantonio of ESPN reports that Wednesday’s session between the league and the players was “very fruitful.”

Paolantonio also reports that it’s expected the talks will continue until a deal is reached.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN told 101 ESPN in St. Louis that, once the free-agency frenzy commences, the owners want to have a right of first refusal as to three or four players per team. This would operate essentially as the transition tag, which provides a right to match but no compensation. And, in cases where the current team chooses to match, it means that the team that pursued the player negotiated his new contract with his old team at no charge

Also, Howard Balzer of 101 ESPN tells us that teams that didn’t apply the franchise tag to players with four or five years of service want to have the chance to do so.
