Paper in Jacksonvill is reporting Miss State picked by the Gator, meaning Mich/Miss St in the Gator. Florida in the Outback, So. Carolina in the Chick-fil-A (against FSU... interesting matchup, imo) and Tennessee to the Music City.

A little surprising. Tennessee to the Music City Bowl is now apparently official, as well.

NU vs. Texas Tech in the TicketCity Bowl and Illinois vs. Baylor in the Texas Bowl are also all but official.

And according to Stewart Mandel, Temple is reportedly going to be team #71 despite their 8-4 record.

I thought 6-6 teams couldn't go to bowl games ahead of teams with better records.

That is found nowhere in the Bowl Tie-in rules. I'm not sure if it was once a rule that got changed or just another of those common misconceptions that has been quoted so much that it somehow became "true".

UT/UNC in the MCB, which is exactly what we've been thinking for 2 weeks. Would have loved to have played Michigan in the Gator, but UNC could be a fun regional matchup, as well.

Nope, this is the first year that all bowl eligible teams are equal for at large bids.

NIU vs. Fresno State in Humanitarian Bowl, Miami vs. Middle Tennessee at GoDaddy Bowl, Toledo vs. FIU in Little Caesars, Ohio vs. Troy in New Orleans, Temple is left out.

I'm excited Michigan got a New Year's Day bowl, and I think Miss State is a solid match-up. Should be a fun game.

Reportedly Mizzou will play Iowa in the Insight, not Nebraska.

That is awesome, and I have no idea why the Alamo Bowl is taking Nebraska when they have to take their bowl opponent from last year or their opponent from September.

Posted

I was hoping for Nebraska but it doesn't really matter to me. I'm not even sure if Iowa has ever played Mizzou in football.

Prepare to win on a late 4th quarter touchdown Missouri fans.

Now they're saying that the Insight straight up passed on Nebraska, forcing them into a regular season rematch with a team they slaughtered. This is just delicious.

The source, a beat writer in Columbia, MO, says that Nebraska will play Washington in the Holiday Bowl. Oklahoma State vs. Arizona in the Alamo Bowl, as well.

WTF? This is [expletive]. I wanted Nebraska. Why would the Insight pass on them? It makes no sense. An Iowa/Nebraska game would be sold out by tonight and would get higher tv ratings than Iowa/Mizzou.

Stewart Mandel's guess is that the Big 12 lobbied hard for Mizzou, which makes a lot of sense.

Settle down, hoss. Iowa will get their chance next year.

I know but when you have the expectations Iowa had and in November you're looking at a possible Rose Bowl without a difficult schedule, you need something to get you excited about playing in the [expletive] Insight Bowl. Playing those clowns would have been it.

Plus I think we had a better chance of beating Nebraska. Gabbert is going to complete 57 passes within 7 yards.

Minnesota has hired Jerry Kill from NIU per Joe Schad.

Good hire. He's always wanted to coach in a BCS conference and now he's going to get his chance. He did a fantastic job of rebuilding SIU and he left NIU in a much better state than what they were at before he arrived.

I'd rather them have him than Chryst. Leach would have been a bit scary but they never seemed interested in him.

Leach wants the Miami job too, so not sure how interested he would have been in them till that's closed.
