Holy crap. Anyone see the Oklahoma State tip drill interception? I've never seen anything like that. That was [expletive] awesome.

USC's offense is pretty wretched without Barkley.

UCLA might have a chance of keeping it within 20 next weekend if Barkley doesn't play.

wasn't mitch mustain like an all-world QB recruit just a couple of years ago? now it's like he can't run an offense to save his life.

Andrew Luck and Justin Blackmon should be getting more Heisman hype.

Just like Aaron Corp. USC hasn't gotten a lot out of some big time 5-star QBs. Although they got great results out of Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley and when you have that many 5-star QBs coming in in such a short time frame, missing on a few of them isn't a big deal.

I gave up on the Mitch Mustain era when he decided he couldn't throw a hail mary with no time left in the half and decided to check down to the [expletive] in the flat.

Is Barkley playing next week?

No idea. He's in pads tonight so who knows.

Crap. UCLA has no chance if Barkley plays. Probably will still lose without him given the athletes USC has on offense.

Asked this last night but didn't get a response. Anyone have any idea?

How do the bowls dole out spots that aren't filled because of too few eligible teams? I'm looking specifically at the Pac-10's spots.

If Oregon and Stanford both go to BCS games, that leaves five bowls with Pac-10 tie-ins. Arizona is bowl eligible while USC, UCLA and Washington State can't go to bowls.

Oregon State (5-5) plays Stanford and Oregon so they could end up 5-7. Cal (5-6) plays Washington (4-6) today and the loser is out. Washington would also have to beat WSU next week to be eligible. Arizona State is only eligible if it wins and there are no other bowl eligible teams. So at the most, there can be six eligible Pac-10 teams with potentially seven spots to fill.

Any chance the Holiday Bowl could say they'd rather take Boise than a 6-6 Pac-10 team?

Notre Dame was dominating the game until they decided to start handing the ball to USC. All 13 points by USC are on short fields because of turnovers.

i don't know about the hierarchy of who goes where but i do know that the spots would just be filled by bowl eligible teams from non-bcs conferences. don't know about the holiday bowl question. if stanford gets selected to a bcs bowl you'd think there would be some pac 10 teams with mediocre records playing in some normally-solid bowls.

Starting this year, bowls that have spots which are not filled by contract obligations are free to pick any team they wish, which means they can pass a 7-5 at large team for an at large 6-6 team. I don't think there's a selection order for at large bowl bids, so it's really just up to the bowls and school ADs to get the deals done. But bowls can't pass on a bowl eligible team from a contracted conference for an at large team.

If there aren't enough bowl eligible teams to fill all bowl spots, then the remaining bowls would be allowed to invite a 5-7 team.

Really not happy I can't watch the damn Okey State game on my TV.

Yeah, I don't really understand why I'm forced to watch ND/USC or Georgia/Ga Tech. I don't care about either of those games.

I would like to thank Iowa for losing today. There's now a chance a better bowl might pick a 7-5 Michigan over a 7-5 Iowa or 7-5 Northwestern team because Michigan fans travel well. Of course, we'll get routed in said bowl, but at least it could be better than the Texas Bowl or whatever.

I don't think Michigan's position changed at all today. The only difference might be Penn State possibly getting picked ahead of Iowa for the Outback since Iowa was there 2 years ago and finished the season worse than Penn State. But I'd be a little surprised if that actually happened. Michigan was going to have to win to get selected over Penn State or Iowa, 2 teams that have pretty good traveling reputations and aren't facing potentially distracting rumors about coaching changes. Insight against a team like Missouri is a pretty safe bet.

Miami President Donna Shalala had a top-level, closed door meeting tonight, and it's being reported that Randy Shannon is out on Sunday or Monday.

Dan Mullen just moved to the edge of his seat.

The fun rumors going around Michigan boards tonight is Rich Rod will be heading to Miami and Harbaugh will be heading to Michigan. I hate rumors.

Rees is garbage. Just giving the game to USC.

Would not surprise me in the least. I actually suggested that elsewhere.

Miami fans seem to be calling for Gruden. Not sure how realistic that would be. I'd think RichRod and Mullen would be the top 2 choices, and not necessarily in that order.
