Also, what a horrible offensive gameplan by the Dolphins. No sign of the Wildcat anywhere. I know we have a good run defense, but to put that much pressure on a third-string QB is puzzling to say the least.

There seems to be some misconception that our pass defense sucks or something. I'm not sure how aware people are that we currently lead the NFL in QB Rating allowed. I believe it's down in the low 60s.

That's because they were crappy against the pass for years and at the beginning of this year until turning it around of late. It helps when you don't face any good QBs outside of Rogers.

HOW WAS THE LION KING UMFAN LOL

It was ok....My girlfriend hated that during intermission and while leaving the theater I put on my headphones and blasted music so that I wouldnt overhear people talking about the game. Also I made her put on a CD on the drive home so that I didnt hear some FM deejay say something about the game in between songs.

It worked out in the end.

P.S. Who knew I've been using the phrase "weak link" incorrectly all these years. I always thought that it meant something or someone who is the worst part of a group

I'd argue he's been the best DB. I guess DJ Moore could have an argument, but he's only in 1/2 the snaps.

Meant to respond earlier but I definitely agree with you.

Other than a couple of blown coverages (like last week with Harvin), the Bears secondary has actually been pretty solid, imo. Jennings has played far better than I ever expected.

3rd down conversions by the offense this season:

6-14

1-11

3-9

0-13

3-15

0-12

2-10

7-12

11-19

10-18

I hope this trend continues from this win streak.

Playcalling has been better recently, pass protection has been better, Cutler has made some great throws lately (i.e. the out to Olsen on 3rd last night), Guys have made some nice catches (Hester has got to a couple low ones, Bennett and Olsen have made some key grabs too), and 3rd downs seem to have been more manageable.

It's been a total team turnaround on 3rd downs.

Before and throughout the game, highlights of Miami's classic 38-24 victory over Chicago in 1985 -- the Bears' only loss in that season -- were shown on the Jumbotron at Sun Life Stadium.

Thanks for your backhanded compliment of an article Gene

Yeah, I just read that. Gene's always like that though. ESPN takes the worst two writers in Chicago (Woj and Rogers...I guess Sullivan could make a case) and lets them be the "Chicago" writers for the national site. Wonderful.

They let Morrisey alone.

What a freaking hit by Manning.

Look at that form! Everybody that was whining about how don't lead with your head rules takes away hitting in football need to look at that form. He led with the shoulder, his arms are wrapped. If that was a cheapshot the arms would be tucked in and/or down by the side and his helmet would be in the guy's chest, not off to the side. This is football 101, yet people don't understand what actual tackling is.

I agree 100%. And the rules didn't change, just being reinforced stronger. A lot of people didn't get that either.

Bill Freaking Simmons among many others do not get that very simple point. It is the same rules, it's the punishment that has increased.

When the Bears win I tend to watch and read a lot more media than I normally do just to enjoy it a bit. I saw some Mike and Mike this morning for the first time in years and heard them talk about a rumor that everybody in football supposedly heard but has not be discussed publicly. And that was Cutler told the Bears to stay away from Brandon Marshall. Had people heard that before? I don't recall, but maybe I have. Kind of interesting. I think most of Jay's praise toward the receivers has been just good teammate type stuff and that he has wanted reinforcements. But that's kind of interesting.

You mean the same Wildcat that's averaged something like 2 yards a play this year, almost entirely on the strength of last week? I'm a bit suprised they didn't pull it out a little bit, but it's not like it was especially effective or like they had a chance of winning without moving the ball in the air in the first place...which wasn't likely to happen without their best receiver and with the 3rd string center snapping to the 3rd string quarterback. It's still astounding to me that they ran the ball so few times period. I don't get it.

I don't get what people don't get. They aren't that great of a running team (below average in yards per attempt and per game) and Chicago is great at stopping it. They were down by 2 scores early in the third and never had the ball. They ran early and got nothing out of it, plus they were sacked and had penalties putting them in long yardage. The only moderate success was short passing early and it was their only hope in winning the game. Some people said it was close late, but they were down by 2 scores before they touched the ball in the third quarter.

I think the Wildcat would be more effective against a team like the Bears that likes to shoot up the field at the first sign of run. The wildcat I thought would give the Dolphins a chance to get linemen out on Urlacher and Briggs and allow the RB a slight delay to read his blockers. Of course, you were playing 2nd/3rd string interior linemen too. Still, I thought at least the Bears would see designed rollouts w/ a mobile QB. Didn't really try that either.

true, that is how you tackle someone. that's how you get people to jump out of their chairs and shout "oh [expletive]!" and wear their dvr out replaying it. it's the opposite of leading with the helmet, which makes me want to vomit and never ever watch the replay in a million years.

i don't see why it's so hard or why there's such confusion over the rule or the enforcement of it.

The Manning hit felt like a watershed moment for him.

I've never seen him lay it on someone like that. I had to do a double-take on the jersey number.

Whats going on with DA? Did not think he would be this non-existent this season after the end of last year and the Lions game.
