I thought Cutler and Marshall were BFF types.

Didn't look that way when Marshall picked up a 15 yard penalty for taunting Cutler.

I figured it was a buddies breaking each others balls kinda thing.

Also, lol @ sulley's comments about the refs having to let us ravish their daughters for a terrible holding call.

Watching a replay of the taunting penalty, it looked like Cutler was actually sitting down before Marshall ran out of bounds. It looked like Cutler yelled something at Marshall as the play ended. Right after that, Marshall shucked the ball in Cutler's direction, but it wasn't really thrown that hard. Cutler yelled more stuff after that. While I agree with the 15 yard penalty, as it was clearly uncalled for, Cutler may not be all that innocent.

Someone is calling Cutler the weak link on this offense? Are you kidding me?

After watching the first 3 or 4 games of the year, I loudly declared that this might be the worst offensive line ever assembled by an NFL team. After some adjustments and a few replacements, it looks like Cutler actually gets a little bit more time to set up in the pocket, but it's still capable of collapsing pretty quickly. That alone hurts the effectiveness of a QB. When you have to worry about who is about to knock you on your ass from the blindside, you are not completely focused down the field, WHERE YOU NEED TO BE FOCUSED. Rarely does Cutler have time to set up a play and find his man. He typically resorts to dump passes or runs downfield because the pocket collapses so quickly.

The line was actually pretty good Thursday night, outside of Webb, who was manhandled by Wake the entire game. Why Tice didn't double up and help Webb out more is beyond me. Isn't that what Manumaleuna was brought in to do?

I don't see any way the Bears are 7-3 without Cutler. The Bear fan friends I have severely underrate him in my opinion. He has made some plays when he had no business making them.

Agreed. I actually think they might have a losing record if Grossman or Neckbeard are running that offense. To expect any QB to maintain composure when you are knocked on your ass on nearly every pass play, especially where guys come through completely untouched (as happened at least once Thursday night), it asking for quite a bit.

I may be off base, but I think the poor Cutler throws are more an end result of his constantly collapsing pocket and he's attempting to force a play while expecting to be knocked to the ground right after the release. More games like Thursday where he actually has time to throw would be wonderful. At the same time, it would be really nice if SOMEONE, ANYONE recognized a defender on the line who had no one to block him and improvised and protected the damn QB from getting blindsided yet again instead of going about business as if nothing is wrong. I suppose Jay could do more when he's standing at the line and sees that unprotected guy and either audible a running play or shift a TE to that side. SOMETHING! This season is over when Cutler can't go anymore.

on inside the nfl, they had martz wired upfor the viking game, his reaction to the cutler interception in the end zone was hilarious. he just says "oh, jay no." and he didn't really even shout it, it was more an expression of hurt. i laughed.

it was like jay had woken up from the matrix and begun unplugging people one by one like cypher did while his father looks on in horror.

Greg Olsen has been a better blocker than Manu this year. Problem with that is Olsen is actually a decent receiver too and can't do both at the same time. I honestly think Manumaleuna could get cut this offseason, he's been that bad.

I forgot where I heard it, but the Marshall "taunt" was just some buddies having fun, and the refs saw it as something it wasn't. Apparently Cutler and Marshall were chumming it up before the game. They're friends.

EDIT: Found quotes...

"Brandon's one of my good friends," Cutler said Friday on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "I just got him fired up before the game. I told him we were going to put someone over the top on him and limit him as much as possible.

"That frustrates him probably more than anything. He's such a competitor, he wants the ball on every play. Whenever teams go out of their way to shut him down, just as a sign of respect, it really gets to him. So I tried to fire him up as much as possible."

"When he caught that ball, broke the tackle and hit the sideline, I think he was telling me he can still beat [the coverage] anyway," Cutler said.

I think he should. There is no reason to keep an expensive blocking tight end on the roster when he doesn't block at an elite level. He never should have been signed, or praised as a great signing, in the first place.

They keep putting him out there over Desmond Clark though. So, I'm guessing he will be brought back. I'd like to draft a TE (6th round or later) or sign an undrafted FA.

Hasn't part of Clark's issue been a neck or back problem? Giving him half the season to justify the signing makes some sense, but eventually they half to move on. Between Olsen and the Davis guy I really don't think they have to put much emphasis on TE at all. But if you want to take a flier on a third TE, go right ahead.
