"I know that I have the no-trade clause, but if the team is searching or looking to trade a guy, I have to listen," Beltran said. "I want to be a Met. I want to finish my career with the Mets. Right now, my mentality is just to come back next year 100 percent to help this team win a championship. But, at the same time, if the organization is looking at different options, I have to be aware. I'm a professional. I know the organization, they're professionals. So if the situation comes between them and us, we're going to handle it in a very professional way."

Probably not gonna get traded, but was interesting nonetheless.

lol...I don't even know what to think of that trade offer. Just a crapload of overpaid players of various levels of effectiveness being traded for each other. I know it was a half assed trade offer but to analyze we only take on 5 million, replace Byrd with Beltran, replace DeWitt (essentially) with Reyes, make Ollie Larry's next reclaimation project (Imagine a rotation of Dempster, Silva, Perez, Wells and Gorzelanny). Get rid of a pitcher that is good but a constant headache, our 4th OF and our halfway decent CF. I'd think we'd need to take on more than $5m or add a decent prospect for NY to lose that much talent in the deal.

That's a terrible trade for the Cubs.

Maybe so, but I'd almost guarantee that the Mets wouldn't think twice about making that deal either.

Doesn't that make sense if it's a terrible trade for the Cubs?

I guess I didn't word it right. I don't think the Mets would do that deal either is what I was trying to say. I would think they should, but I think they place way too high of a value on Reyes for him to even be a part of a bad contract swap type of deal.

I agree with the original statement though......It wouldn't help the Cubs at all, if you ask me.

I don't know how the new regime thinks of him, but most of Metland had soured heavily on Jose Reyes.

Nice. I really did a number on this thread. Kinda my plan. Wasn't a suggestion. Just some BS that will probably get thrown out there.

I actually thought you were being sarcastic and was wondering why people got pissy. Heh
