I actually really wanna hear his take on it, for the humor factor of course.

He talked about it on a Sunday Night Baseball game towards the end of the season. Wasn't that funny

When is the last time that no Cubs player got a single vote for MVP or Cy Young?

Edit: it happened 2 times in the last 35 years (since 1975), in 1986 and 1994.

The Reds bought the pick from us, and told us who to pick right before the draft. We could've thought to draft Hamilton and then kept him for ourselves, but the situation wasn't one where the Cubs identified him and then decided to give up his rights for a couple bucks.

He wouldn't have had the same opportunity with the Cubs and probably would not have stuck. The Cubs were set in the OF, so there was no reason to think that a player who at that time had barely played higher than A-ball and who had missed most of the past several seasons due to injuries and then substance abuse suspensions would have made the Cubs' major league roster. The Reds were in a different situation. They weren't expected to be contenders and had room in the OF. Plus, at the time they were managed by Jerry Narron, a member of the family that had already been a big part of Hamilton's support system (the Narrons are from North Carolina, as is Hamilton). The Reds simply were the right fit for Hamilton's situation at the time and the Cubs were not.

Appears Joey Votto has an understanding of the metrics...

"After the season, when I looked at my numbers and at Albert's numbers, I thought: 'Holy cow! He's beaten me in a lot of them," Votto said. "He beat me in runs, he beat me in RBIs, home runs, I think a couple others. I beat him in a few of the qualitative stats.

"I don't know -- I think it was a tossup. I think that it was as close as it can get. I'm not going to go on a limb and say, 'Oh, yeah, I played a heck of a lot better than him because I beat him in batting average, but we all know that batting average is kind of an overrated statistic."
