it would have been nice if thibodeau didn't needlessly use his final timeout with 50 sseconds left in the game.

more excellent in game managing from thibodeau.

what was the entire team doing on that last possession? no one set a screen? Rose didn't drive? Seriously, FTH?

nobody knew what to do because thibodeau pulled a del negro and didn't leave himself with any timeouts

you need to score 2 points. it's not like they all suddenly forgot how to play basketball. can they seriously not score points without a play being called for them? Rose should've just driven the paint and then flopped on contact

Dexter better never give eric316 [expletive] in a cubs gamethread again lol. Following on here I thought the Bulls were getting blown out only to see us down 2 with 14 second left.

they kind of did though, didn't they? nobody knew where to go and nobody helped rose. yes rose should have driven (or done something other than what he did), but i think he was expecting a screen.

i'm not defending the players because that was atrocious, but they were clearly caught off guard. everyone was expecting NJ to take a shot as time ran out. when they scored immediately and there was still time left on the clock, it was like "ok wtf do we do?"

just saying, it should would have been nice to have a timeout to call in that scenario. burning your last one with 50 seconds left is just stupid. he vinnied it.

and i still don't understand why boozer sat out the 4th. does he get that lob before sasha gets the put back? probably

and dont even get me started on bogans. he's out worst guard (by far) and he's starting. not only is brewer clearly significantly better, but watson looks better at the 2 now also.

i just dont understand what they see in bogans. he doesn't have a single strength. i thought it was supposed to be defense, but no. his idea of defense if picking up a bunch of fouls so the bulls put in a player who is actually good.

Didn't see the game but you gotta have a TO in your pocket. Of all the things Vinny did to piss me off that was right at the top of the list.

Need a real 2 guard...the thing is, as horrible as Bogans is, I still understand why they start him given the options. Brewer's fine in the role he has but we need a real SG that can stretch the D.

Rose had 21 points but just one assist for the Bulls, who lost for only the third time in 17 games. Luol Deng scored 15 points, but Carlos Boozer finished with just 12 in 26 minutes, sitting the entire fourth quarter as coach Tom Thibodeau went with a small lineup.

"You've got to talk to Thibs about that," said Boozer, Chicago's high-priced offseason acquisition. "That was a coaching decision."

Well, I mean ... it did kinda work. The 4th quarter brought them back from a big deficit.

The Bulls were pummeled for the first 15 minutes of the second half

That strategy is dumb. I want my best players in at the end of the game when it's close. You got everything you can and more out of that unit. It's ridiculous how your second best player, and best big man, wasn't in the game for the entire final quarter. It sure would've been nice if our best rebounder was out there to break up the failed alley-oop at the end of the game.

Basically, Thibodeau punted last night.

Well that sucks. I didn't see most of the game, but then I logged in on an Internet feed and noticed Booze was on the bench.

I assumed it was because he fouled out. Sheesh. What the hell do we have this guy for if it isn't going to be to win us games?

Most people here believe that the Bulls will wind up at worst fourth in the East. Isn't sending a message to Boozer that he has to defend more important than one win because the Bulls are stuck in third or fourth place?

Boozer has been in the league for a while now and has never defended. I don't really think he is going to at this point. I'd rather have not lost the game and piss him off at the same time.

Boozer has been a pretty good team player and has said all the right things this year so I don't see him getting all pissy. Maybe he needed a kick in the pants and will realize his mistake.

All these years in the NBA and benching him in the 4th quarter will finally get him to play defense? That's...unlikely.

Thibs is not going to just roll over for Carlos if Boozer doesn't show a little hustle. I am fairly confident Boozer will run back to the hoop with a little more urgency next game. This isn't even so much about playing defense well, just trying harder and getting yourself in the right position.

I'm gonna have to agree with Raisin here. I'm pretty sure Boozer wasn't really not trying on defense and I'm also pretty sure if there was a way to make Boozer play better defense, Jerry Sloan would have found a way.

I hope Tom realizes now if we win a playoff series and then play the Magic or Celtics or Hawks that Boozer won't be guarding anyone well then either. I also hope he doesn't bench him then. Boozer is what he is.

If Boozer was a young player then that would be one thing, but at this point in his career? I don't think benching him for a bit against NJ is the magic pill to turn on defensive abilities that are just waiting for the right button to be pushed.

But as I said earlier, this isn't even so much about Boozer not playing good defense. He didn't hustle down the court to even put himself in the position to play defense. Thibs did not bench him because Boozer was lit up. Thibs benched him because Boozer didn't hustle, something anyone can and should do. And I really don't think it will happen again.
