russell westbrook 10 free throws! what in the world, david stern and his pro-westbrook bias!

There was one ridiculous play with a minute or two left where Westbrook lost control literally 10 feet away from the basket, flew into a guy in the restricted circle, and ended up shooting 2 FTs for it.

well that's never happened before in the history of the nba. clearly the oklahoma city mafia of preachers and soccer moms has gotten to stern! seriously, you guys sound pathetic. let me enjoy this before durant blows a knee out or something.

I don't know why Bulls fans are complaining that the Pistons got robbed because of bad refs, but ok.

I have no issue with the Thunder getting calls. I'd much rather see them get calls than Miami, LA, etc.

Yes the Pistons are a jump shooting team but there were a handful of drives by stuck, gordon and charlie were they got hacked with no call. On the other end there was nothing OKC didn't get called. The Pistons got a ton of penetration in the second half.

Officiating wasn't the main culprit tonight, but overall they're right.

if i were a pistons fan, i'd start the finger-pointing with my $50 million shooting guard who comes off the bench and dribbles out the clock for 2.5 seconds instead of attempting a shot — any shot.

EDIT - woops, i say that, but BG shot 8 of 9 at the line. Still, that was a hilarious end to the game, considering he was completely on fire.

I AM just completely shocked that tayshaun prince played 38 minutes with no FTs. I mean, he averaged 2 attempts per game last year. How do you keep a monster like that out of the paint???!!?!??!

i dont care either, and im not complaining. i'm just saying that they're going to get calls this year.

if i were a thunder fan i'd be worried that they barely beat the bulls without boozer, with a bad game from rose, and the officiating on their side, then barelty beat an atrocious pistons team

just sayin

that's funny because i just look at pictures of kevin durant and russell westbrook owning and smile. in fact, i was doing just that as carlos boozer drunkenly stumbled and broke his hand (estimated value 4 million dollars)

The Thunder shot three more 3's on the same amount of attempts. Really it was the turnovers and some of the easy buckets they led to that gave OKC the margin they had all game. The Pistons shot pretty well, weren't bad defensively and rebounded at a decent rate.

Well I'll probably only be able to see a handful of games the rest of the year. Go Jazz and Thunder

shaq should have shot 20 free throws a game. the fact that he was unjustly officiated has nothing to do with durant.

While I was doing some intense research, I learned that Charlie villanueva shot a grand total of 130 free throws in 1848 minutes last year.

Not sure how that guy got the contract that he did. He's a bum.

Joe D is a nice guy. It was funny to see how quickly he want from the most brilliant GM in the game that could never do wrong, to the bum who ruined the Pistons. The Gordon/Charlie V. signings set the team back 3-4 years. I know it was a situation of use cap space or lose it but man there were surely better fas out there that summer.

Shaq has had one year in his entire career where he's attempted more free throws than Durant did last year.

That's because Shaq only played 65-70 games each year while Durant played 82. It's a bad way of looking at it.

Durant average 10.2 free throw attempts per game last year. Shaq had nine seasons where he averaged at least 10.2 free throws per game. Shaq averaged 10.5 free throws per game over his first 13 seasons.

Ok. Between Kobe, Iverson, Lebron, and Wade they have never had a season where they took more free throw attempts than Durant did last year. That's 40+ seasons of NBA experience. Kobe had 1 year where he averaged 10.2 FTA a game and that was in 05-06 when he jacked up 27 field goal attempts per game (as opposed to Durant's 20.3 FGA per game last season). Iverson had a couple years where he was higher than 10.2 FTA a game but he was also playing upwards of 43 minutes a game (Durant was at 39.5) and he was jacking up 25 shots a game.

MJ had 2 years in the 80s when he averaged more than 10.2 a game but he took wayyyy fewer threes (less than 1 per game), jacked up way more shots, and in an era when the pace and # of possessions were a lot higher.

Now I'm looking at Lebron's #s and they are actually similar to Durant's in terms of field goal attempts, free throw attempts, and minutes. It's safe to say that Lebron and Durant are being officiated differently, justly or not, than basically any perimeter players to have ever played the game. And anecdotally, I can't believe that Durant's style of play is more conducive to drawing contact than a young MJ at his athletic and ball hogging apex, a young AI, or Lebron (althoug Bron does take a crap load of 3s).

Not really. They thought Boozer would be but then he came back for one more year. Same with David Lee. Artest wasn't going to come. As I remember it, Ben, Villanueva and Turkey glue where the three most prominent of guys who were unrestricted and willing to sign with Detroit.

He was in a tough spot. Things had gotten stagnant and they weren't going to win a championship so he decided to take a step back and re-build. The problem was he traded the wrong guard and then re-signed the other guy (Rip) to an extrension that makes him untradeable.

With the '09 free agents I think he was looking ahead and saw that everyone in the league was making big cap space for 2010 and realized he wouldn't be able to land any of the top 6-7. I didn't have a problem with the Gordon deal. I've always liked him and his deal isn't that crazy. Vllanueva had some really nice efficiency/per minute stats but the deal was too much. Then last year they were just never healthy.

apparently you haven't watched many okc games. it's not like durant is getting fouled on jumpshots.

Yeah, Durant is 6-10 and completely unstoppable at the rim. The only player more talented at driving to the hoop...is LeBron James. So it makes sense why they both go to the line so often.

Sacramento is one lazy ass defensive team and very sloppy on offense. Francisco Garcia thinks he's Steve Nash.

Awesome to get back home for Milwaukee. Squad 6 had the Bradley Center rocking.

Brandon Jennings gets his first career triple double. (20pts-10reb-10ast).

Delfino hits 5 3's and the Bucks get the first win out of the way.
