It's nice to see the Hawks leading the league in goals scored now too.

Without two months of Turco, we might be the top team in the West.

The defense in front of Turco was at best inconsistent and injured. Can you really blame Turco because Campbell got hurt and Cullimore and Boynton were awful? They even tried John Scott on defense they were so desperate.

Well there was only one game of note tonight, and that game had the worst possible result. The Stars (coming into the day with 77 points) and Kings (coming into the day with 76 points) played and Dallas won in OT, so now Dallas and Calgary are 1 point behind the Hawks with 79 points, and the 4th-8th seeds are seperated by just 3 points. Hawks are 5 points clear of the playoffs.

It's interesting. There's all sorts of pundits and fans all a-flutter because the Hawks are playing Eastern Conference teams. I think it's a huge advantage. I'm working on an analysis right now.

Okay, I ran some numbers. If you look at the points per game for Western Conference contenders against the West and the East over the season as a whole, you find some interesting things -- the Red Wings and Blackhawks do very, very well against the East, for example, while Minnesota doesn't. Keep in mind that this doesn't take into account goal differential, slumps, hot streaks or strength of schedule. It just looks at PPG. With that in mind, here are my predicted points and seedings (if you really are interested, I'll post the whole speadsheet):

1. 114 points -- Vancouver (114.17)

2. 107 points -- Detroit (107.00)

3. 103 points -- San Jose (102.65)

4. 101 points -- Chicago (100.65)

5. 99 points -- Phoenix (98.98)

6. 97 points -- Dallas (97.50)

7. 95 points -- Los Angeles (95.33)

8. 95 points -- Calgary (95.24)

9. 93 points -- Minnesota (93.35)

10. 93 points -- Nashville (93.15)

11. 93 points -- Anaheim (92.77)

^Sounds about right.

I'd like to think the Hawks will just win out, but of the next two nights, tonight is by far the more winnable game.

If Keith really plays tonight, huge sigh of relief.

Dammit, that is why Kopecky doesn't play on a line with Toews. Wasted that chance.

Also, for playing the Venga Boys during a stoppage, Florida should lose their NHL franchise.

Looks like this might be a chippy game. Wouldn't have expected that.

I agree what the hell was he thinking? If he was gonna pass that he should have 2 seconds earlier

I still kind of think we are going to win this.

Although going 0-2 on the PP early kills me.

I don't know, on the road in a completely dead building against a goalie capable of standing on his head...

...and as I typed that sentence, I think the game just ended...

Well we werent going to win them all, but we really need 2 points from these 2 games, and the much harder game is tomorrow on the 2nd of a back to back.

1 or 0 points would be a huge disappointment and hurt our seeding chances if not our playoff cushion.

Colorado vs. Minnesota is on VS. C'mon Avs...I know you pretty much quit playing 2 months ago, but give us this one game.

we should be running these clowns out of the arena. 3-0 after the first? come on.

Everyone of the goals resulting from turnovers and terrible play by the Hawks, nothing special or noteable done by the Panthers - that's frustrating.

I think its just one of those games. Not excusing the play but they were due for a stinker. Do what you can to get back in the game but if its not to be, conserve that energy for tomorrow and dont let this be a regression to the type of 2 steps forward 3 steps back play from the first 2/3rds of the season.
