I'm really liking that on any given day there's usually at least 2 starters that I have some legitimate interest in. I'm not sure I could have said the same 3 or even 2 years ago.

I have interest in all 4 of those guys. I know I'm probably swimming upstream admitting having hope for Samardzija on this site, but he's been pretty darn effective as a starter this season despite still struggling with his control. If he can improve his control over time, he may still be something given how late he came to focus on pitching.

BA's started on their Best Tools by level feature. Yesterday was AAA (subscriber only). The only name from the Iowa Cubs mentioned was Ryne Sandberg as best managerial prospect in the Pacific Coast League. Today, they did AA (sub. only). Only one Cub was listed, with Robinson Chirinos named the best defensive catcher in the Southern League.

Archer: 7 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 HR, 8/2 K/BB

Jackson: 1 for 3 with a 3B, SB, and he reached on catcher's interference.

So far in Tennessee....

46.1 IP, 44/25 K/BB, 27 H, 3 ER, 1.13 WHIP, 0.59 ERA

Got to love only 2 walks too.

Well today is going to ruin Cales' numbers at Iowa for the season.

Is it unrealistic to expect Archer to finish in BA's top 50 this year? He was good in Daytona and has followed it by being even better in Tennessee. The ERA is obviously unsustainable but he's got great peripherals.

So, Chris Archer is black.

I learned something today.

Rhee's been up and down, but Jung must have crossed the streams with Egon or something because that was total protonic reversal right there.

In his previous four outings he pitched 14.2 IP allowing 10 H, 4 ER with 27 Ks and 2 BB. Tonight he pitched 1.1 IP allowing 3 H, 5 ER with 6 BB and only 1 K. Jekyll meet Hyde.

I asked this earlier and no one really responded. I think he might get a look at least.

He is only black if that is what you see. Rumor has it, he was born white . . . couldn't accept his color as an adolescent and slowly turned black. I hear it added 2 mph to his FB.

Just an FYI, but Dae-Eun Rhee is actually Korean. I know it was a surprise for me when I found out.
