So what's the privilege?

The celebrity singers are in charge of leading Cub fans in singing. As such I think fans would prefer to be led by fellow Cub fans in singing not by someone with no affiliation to the Cubs. And to extend that I think alot of fans feel it is a privledge to sing at a Cubs game and should be bestowed only upon fellow Cub fans.

What if it's a Cubs fan who was White Sox fan and a Cardinals fan first?

Only if he really screwed over the Cards owner, like sleeping with his wife, before becoming a Cub fan.

Daughter-in-law.

But really, all we're doing is showing how there's really no standards involved here.

True, there are no standards and now we're back to where the conversation started.* There should be Cub fandom standards to who leads "take me out to the ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley Field moving forward. :)

*not including the OP converstation.

I guess to some that getting drunk at Wrigley is synonymous with tradition of the 7th inning stretch..

It is just so lame the guest conductors..kinda like a meaingless all star game to decide home field advantage..

play 162 games and that is not enough to earn home field?

Wrigley is Disney....

except currently our product sucks...but hey we do have nicer bathrooms!

I don't mind the Go Cubs Go... I am more annoyed with the idiot guests that do the 7th inning... I feel bad for Len and Bob for some of those interviews... "So Marion Ross what have you been up to since Happy Days?"... awkward... BTW, I agree with whoever said bring back Jump for the pregame...

And the stretch singing? Talk about the epitome of the stereotype of the Cubs fan that doesn't care about the game and just wants to get hammered at Wrigley.

the stretch singing happens at many stadiums. its not unique to wrigley, only the guest conductors are. Which I agree should go. Just let len and bob sing it alternating with ronny and pepper in some harry and Bill murray for kicks. But fans get hammered everywhere during this time of the game.

Other fans don't sing a really lame shmaltzy folk song to let other teams and fans know how rare it is that they actually do win. And it would be one thing if the song were good, I probably wouldn't be that opposed to it. But its a poorly written song in all facets no matter how many posters' three year olds like it.

do people sincerely think Wrigley has more drunk fans than other stadiums? Granted, I've only been to a handful of stadiums, but Wrigley hasn't cornered the market on hammered fans. . . .. those morons are everywhere. But they are rich morons. . . . can't imagine getting sloshed at $7-$8 a pop.

I think guest conductors was a fun idea, but the problem is they've strayed from actual good/relevant celebrities and began to pick flavors of the month.

Mike Ditka? Yes. Kellie Pickler? No.

Dempster should be asked to impersonate Harry for every 7th inning stretch, except for the days he starts. On those days, we bring Will Ferrell to the park to impersonate Harry.

If not those guys, then you bring REAL celebrity Cub fans to sing. That would be Vince Vaughn, John Cusack (has claimed to be both a White Sox and Cub fan, so he's on thin ice) and Bill Murray.

I'm sure Bill Murray could fit 20 trips to Wrigley into his schedule
