  1. Yeah I've only been able to get about 55% of what paid for the ticket up to this point on the tickets I've tried to sell. And so far I've only had 3 tickets go unsold. Stubhub is whats killing me. Their cut of over 25% is insane.
  2. It might *not* be worth a shot for them. How much money do they want to spend to continue a legal fight they can't win, when it'll very quickly kill any profits they might have had anyway? The kind of argument they can come up with is nearly irrelevant. This would be about attrition, and available funds. The Cubs have more. Much more. I think this was always the fact that the Cubs were going against these rooftop owners, who had the city as either an ally or at least a passive enabler. That's changed now. The rooftop owners are now all alone. Even the public at large thinks they are a bunch of whiners. And the powers that be have clearly just told them to back off and deal with reality. I was hoping the roof top owners could win this. I'm all for a renovating from top to bottom just not the Jumbotron. At the very least put a stipulation the Ricketts must win a World Series first. Financially the main thing was the Cubs getting the night games they needed for selling TV rights.
  3. How do you know when they're supposed to arrive? I haven't received anything from the Cubs about shipping my tickets. They emailed me last year ahead of time. They sent an email saying they had shipped with fedex tracking.
  4. Man this just keeps getting worse. Now I'm going to have to take my kids to watch the baby birds. Epstein better win a world series, I don't want to end up with some Card fans.
  5. This is devastating news. This has been the saving grace with the Cubs being horrible. At least I'd be able to watch the influx of new prospects and I was looking forward to that. But now I'm done. This latest kick to the balls is going to take awhile to recover from. I won't be supporting the Cubs again until they show me they are worth supporting again. And that means a serious run in the playoffs.
  6. To comment on Sandberg only have 4 years of experience. When looking at other big name managers like Joe Girardi, Joe Torre, Tony Larussa, and Lou Piniella. None of those guys had as much experience as Sandberg before becoming managers. Ultimately I don't think you can knock him for not having enough experience. Now I'm glad Sandberg wasn't chosen but for different reasons than his years of experience.
  7. I fine with keeping "Go Cubs Go" when they win as long as they play "A Cubs fans dying wish" when they lose.
  8. Only if he really screwed over the Cards owner, like sleeping with his wife, before becoming a Cub fan. Daughter-in-law. But really, all we're doing is showing how there's really no standards involved here. True, there are no standards and now we're back to where the conversation started.* There should be Cub fandom standards to who leads "take me out to the ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley Field moving forward. :) *not including the OP converstation.
  9. Only if he really screwed over the Cards owner, like sleeping with his wife, before becoming a Cub fan.
  10. The celebrity singers are in charge of leading Cub fans in singing. As such I think fans would prefer to be led by fellow Cub fans in singing not by someone with no affiliation to the Cubs. And to extend that I think alot of fans feel it is a privledge to sing at a Cubs game and should be bestowed only upon fellow Cub fans.
  11. How so? Because it's bordering on delusional. It's not "the Cubs' song," it doesn't belong to the fans and it's not a privilege. What does owning the song have to do with anything? We are talking about leading Cub fans in singing at Wrigley Field. It has nothing to do with who created the song or owns the song or first used the song. It has to do with the event itself and not just the song.
  12. And how long does that go on? I don't want to be the Yankees trotting out Bob Shepard's corpse after he's gone. I really don't care much one way or another about the stretch, but I think it'd be pretty absurd to have a guy who's been dead for 60 years "leading" the crowd in the seventh inning stretch. I have to agree. I don't think using a recording of Harry is the way to go. They do it at the Chiefs games and I'm not a fan.

  14. I'm just going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this was a joke. Sorry, that was definitely tongue in cheek with maybe a hint of frustration.
  15. The Cubs have had the unique opportunity to play 3 of the worst offensive teams in the last 17 years of Major League Baseball this season. The Seattle Mariners (.642 OPS), Houston Astros (.649 OPS) and Pittsburgh Pirates (.672 OPS) have the 1st, 2nd and 5th worst team OPS since 1992. The Cubs are 8-19 (assuming today results in a loss) against those teams. So if the Cubs did to them what the rest of baseball does to these three teams, the Cubs would be fighting for the division lead. So what are we to conclude from this information? It is just baseball. The Cubs are better than we think. They don't take these teams seriously so they don't play as good. Lou and his staff have not done a good job of preparing the team to play also rans. Bad luck. A combination of all of these... I think it's clear that Lou doesn't take these teams seriously from todays lineup. And if thats the case he probably doesn't put much effort into preparing the team.
  16. I don't think it's that sad really. Colvin has spent most of his time in the top of the order while Castro has been at the bottom most of the time. Colvin has probably provided more wow moments that stick into fan's heads with how long his home runs have gone. And it's not like Colvin is Ryan O'Malley out there...he is a legitimate prospect having a very good season. Obviously Castro is the one to be more excited about because of age and position, but I don't think it's a problem if any fan wanted to say Colvin. They are both good prospects who have shown both good tools and good production while in the major leagues. Neither one has had a whole lot of extra luck in the majors. To ask people to dig into minor league numbers to find out which one might have a better chance of sustaining their play is IMO unrealistic. I dont see why we cant be excited about both of them. Theres really no need to pick sides, this isnt Jacob vs. whatver the other guys name is(trying to work in a Twilight reference, but Ive never seen the movies, only the Burger King commercials) To be honest, I think that Castro has the tools to become an elite type player, but I still think that Colvin can be a very good player. These 2, along with Soto, Byrd, and Soriano are the core that they will be building around for the next few years, and as Ive said before, if we could get one big bopper, be it a full season of a productive Aramis Ramirez or an FA or trade we should have a very good team next year. Not if Colvin is starting for the Cubs. Why can't we be excited for both if Colvin is starting?
  17. Atleast Lily was able to break a new personal record today.
  18. Gotta love how the Cubs make getting an out interesting. The only thing left to follow is if Colvin can get 20 hr's this season.
  19. Seems like with JR and Vance getting offered tickets and being in the 2k range that I should have moved up around 2k spots but I've only moved a little over 100 spots. Has anyone else noticed this beside me?
