Boise being no-hit through 5 though they have 3 walks.

Edited since Archer got through the 6th: Archer with 6 more scoreless but his control problems returned - 4 walks and he threw 39 balls (to 50 strikes).

Archer with 5.2 more scoreless thus far but he has issued 4 walks. He's in a bit of a jam as we speak - 2 on and 2 out in the 6th and he's around 85 pitches. 2 of his 4 walks came in this inning.

His control just always seems to go to hell in the 6th. I wonder if they'll let him throw the 7th and go for a CG 1 hitter.

Jeffry Antigua returned from the DL with 2 scoreless and 4 strikeouts. Su-Min Jung followed and while he gave up 3 earned in 3.2, he struck out what has to be a career high 7.

I doubt it at 89 pitches.

A guy can dream.

Brett Jackson makes me a sad panda these days.

Yep he's done. What's the ERless streak at now? 28 IP?

Justin Bristow is making his 2010 debut down in Mesa.

not thrilled about archer's walks but he still had the k's and the nice GO/FO ratio (10:2)

richard jones has 29 rbi in 35 games with boise. i love his k/bb ratio this year... 66/5. that's awesome.

except for darwin barney (0-for-5) everyone in iowa's lineup has/had at least 2 hits, including casey coleman.

So Josh Vitters was hit on the hand. Hopefully it's not too severe.

That .965 OPS after the break for Junior Lake is very nice. If he can start doing that on a consistent basis, he's going to fly up prospect lists.

Not liking the walks from Archer, but on the other hand, he's not giving up hits either. Gotta start wondering if he's turned into our best pitching prospect, ahead of Jay Jackson.

Mike Parisi pitched today for Tennessee after a month off. Not sure what his deal is, but he definitely looks to be a bust as a Rule 5 pick (even if he was more of a "minor league free agent type")!

Sorry guys - Chris Siegfried got a spot start for McNutt, probably due to the blister.

My guess is that Siegfried is going to stay in the rotation (probably not in McNutt's spot ultimately though). Siegfried pitched 4.0 innings last week, being "stretched out" for today's start. He's had a nice season and the Cubs have always seemed high on him (starting him in the past when he was clearly overmatched).

Over Cabrera, a healthy McNutt, Raley, Rhee or Rusin? I hope not.

Maybe the Cubs figure a promotion is imminent? I could see Rusin going up to AA in the near future.

Vitters out for significant time with a broken finger according to Jon Mayo. :(

Well, that didn't say that he was out for the season. Although with 5-7 weeks left I can't imagine they'll rush him back so he can play in half a dozen games or so.

Fixed it. Disappointing that it happened when he appeared to be heating up.

I'm actually very relived that it's a broken finger. From the incomplete report I saw last night, I was fearing broken wrist.

What Archer is doing is incredible, and to think all we had to give up for him and two other players was a utility player. Let's hope this is nature's way of evening out the Indians receiving a future all-star in Santana for Casey Blake.

if he's got a higher ceiling than a 20 year old guy hitting .300 in the majors playing the same position..This Jr. Lake must really be something...I see that his birthday is in 1990 making him 20..So what is that in Dominican years?

Now slugging .564 in his last 117 AB with 13 walks thrown in.

In the FSL.

At 20.

As a SS.

If you're looking for a potential Hanley comp, it's not Starlin. It's Junior Lake.

Yeah I'm not that close to being sold on Lake yet. I understand his ceiling might be higher than Castro's, but I'm still very confident Castro will end up having the better career. Good for Lake though. Like someone else said, this system is stacked with middle infielders.

We definitely sold high, but when we traded him he was one of the best 2nd basemen in the league. Not necessarily disagreeing with you, I just don't want to dishonor the memory of DeRosa. I love that guy.
