Royals trade Callaspo to Angels

The Angels acquired infielder Alberto Callaspo from the Royals for RHP Sean O'Sullivan and LHP Will Smith.

O'Sullivan has enjoyed success in the majors at an early age and Smith has risen quickly through the minor leagues, but this is a move that makes sense for the Angels. Third basemen have hit just .214 in Anaheim this season and Callaspo will bring immediate stability to the position. He was batting .275/.308/.410 with eight homers and 43 RBI in 349 at-bats for the Royals.

I know the Angels needed some offense from the hot corner, but I think they gave up a little too much.

I saw Callaspo's last game in a Royals uniform in person. He made a nice backhanded stop. Certainly a memory I'll cherish forever.

I didn't say it made sense.

I'm guessing this:

already got posted here somewhere.

I hadn't seen it but I heard Dan Bernstein referencing it the other day. Amazing how Dayton Moore has turned out after it seemed like he was widely regarded as a potentially great GM by most in the baseball world.

Gordon gets the call with DeJesus to the DL.

DeJesus may be out for the year. What happened to Gordon at 3B? Wasn't he a pretty good defensive 3B?

Highly touted and has the tools, but UZR has him as a tick below average.

Dayton Moore is such an idiot though. Gordon was sent down because of their "infield depth." That depth was Callaspo, Aviles, Yuniesky Betancourt, Chris Getz, Willie Bloomquist and Wilson Betemit.

Tick below average, but he was 23-24, and in his 2nd season, the last time he played 3B on a regular basis (injuries). Definitely not Ryan Braun at 3B, where he had to be moved off the position. Makes no sense.
