Nothing against certain fans' Yellon-esque optimism, but the last thing this team needs long term is to make a pre-deadline push.

The Soto [expletive] is inexplicable, but arguing about it has become as tiresome as Hendry debates.

Let's just hope whoever's in here next year understands how big of an asset Soto is.

LOL at Morgan insinuating Soto hasn't turned it around this year.

I'm so happy that I was on the phone with my Dad for the last 10-20 minutes. What'd he say? And does he not realize he is one of the top ten catchers in baseball? Probably higher than that but I'm not not going to work to prove Morgan wrong.

I would genuinely like to smack the [expletive] out of Morgan. How can a guy who has done nothing but play and analyze baseball his whole life be so stupid when it comes to baseball?

It really explained a lot when I read that recent book about the Big Red Machine; Morgan didn't really give a [expletive] about understanding or "knowing" baseball at all. He was just lucky to be gifted enough as a player to overcome his stupidity. And he was a dick back then, too.

Russell Martin was up to bat and Morgan was talking about how he and Soto had started their careers strong and then had trouble after their rookie year. Then Morgan says "And both Martin and Soto have turned things around - well, the *Cubs* believe Soto has turned things around," as if he thought Soto was a bum.

So let me get this straight, the brilliant Joe Morgan believes that Martin, .247/.351/.337/.688 HAS turned things around, but Soto, .289/.412/.488/.900 is only BELIEVED to have turned things around? What an idiot. I know your not supposed to wish physical harm on people around here, so Ill just stop there.

.....good god Joe. In what world is hitting the ball off the top of the bat squaring it up. In order to have truly squared it up the bat would have had to come from an absurd uppercut.

The main differences between Ron Santo and Joe Morgan is that Santos entertaining and seems to know that most of what he says makes little to no sense.

So they are talking about the recap of the game and they are blaming Silva for not covering first on the play that Nady obviously got there first.

So it's Silva's fault that he didn't cover first that that play happened. Silva was stupid, but the guy was out. It's only the ump's fault. I hate ESPN.

I hate to jinx it, but the really shocking thing about this game is the lack of Bartman, Goat etc. ESPN usually salivates when they get the chance to talk about the curse.
