A quick glance reveals this guy also thinks Tom Gorzelanny is "whiney."

Come on Carlos.

He returned from a 4 year hiatus to frequent a couple game threads.

The only monumentally stupid thing I have read is you implying that he couldn't possibly learn the easiest position on the field...

No one is saying he's incapable of learning the position. It's just probably not the wisest thing in the world for a player in his first major league season to REGULARLY play a position he's never played as a professional. He's already having to adjust to major league pitching. And while he's hitting well for now, he's bound to have a slump. When that happens, I'd prefer if his focus wasn't divided between his offensive struggles and learning a new position, regardless of how easy said position may be.

If the club had any ideas of making him into a first baseman, they would most likely do so during the offseason.

This I can live with...All I am saying is this team is going nowhere this year, jerking him in and out of the lineup divides his focus more than going to 1st would...IMO.

How is he being "jerked in and out of the lineup?"

How is he not?

Because he's just getting starts when the regular starters are getting a day off. Or when they've had DH flexibility. Or he comes in as a PH or a defensive replacement. You know, the things baseball players do. How is this him being "jerked in and out of the lineup?"

Lets be honest though, moving Colvin to 1b wouldn't even rank in the top 10 of bad moves the Cubs have made this season

During the season with Lee still on the roster it would be a pretty dumb move. If Lee gets traded and we officially mail in the season, we might as well try and get someone to learn 1B whether it be Colvin or Soriano.

Like I mentioned in the 2011 roster thread, I'd rather not give a huge contract for 2011 to Pena or Dunn with Gonzalez and Fielder set to be FAs after 2011.

"Hey, Tyler Colvin! You've shown promising offensive flashes in limited playing time over the first third of the season despite an unremarkable, albeit short, professional baseball career! Congratulations! You're now the starting 1st baseman for the Chicago Cubs!"

Hey DLEE you are gone after this year, and are as pathetic offensively and defensively with half the year gone as nuts and gum trying to be funny and witty. Congratulations! You are still the starting baseman for the Chicago Cubs!!

You're killing us with your ironclad logic.

Translation; I really have no clue about the game of baseball,so I will (try) and snipe my way into the hearts of all.

Oh, OK, guy who wants Tyler Colvin to be the Cubs starting 1B.

What??ytou need to ask?? And all along i thought you spoke for everyone with all the we's.

And the question should be "who thinks Colvin COULD be a fit at 1st base vfor the Cubs moving forward all things considered".

Argumentation by erosion another of your condescending idiocies.

I'm pretty sick of hearing boos for Aramis.

I'm personally pretty sick of him batting .180, although now is a weird time to boo him since he's been decent since coming off of the DL.

I wouldn't have a problem sticking Colvin at 1st base. Who cares? While Colvin is no Ryan Howard, the Phillies won a World Series with Howard leading all 1B with 14 errors in 2008. 1B is the easiest position to play in baseball. A decent high school short stop would be fine at 1B in the majors.

The Phillies can live with Howard's defense because of his offensive production.
