Couldn't have happened to a better team.

And seriously, they mobbed the assistant? You deserve to give up the goal for that display.

lol, and then Marquez straight trucks somebody over

Marquez just smashed into his own club teammate. That guy has some issues.

ESPN/ABC must be just thrilled at how this Cup is going across stateside-inept, unaccountable officiating and over-the-top playacting.

What are the odds right now he gets a red at some point today? 80 percent? He's already shown he doesn't care that he's Messi's teammate so I have to think another yellow is coming, probably not until the second half though.

And the Argentinian smacking his head onto the camera and then smacking the camera was awesome.

If Aguirre has any sense about him he'll pull him before it happens, because if Argentina score again-and they will-he's going to lose his mind and just assault someone.

At least yesterday Clark had the sense to turn it over at midfield. CONCACAF defenses not impressing this weekend.

The silver lining to this is that, now that the US, England, Ivory Coast and the US have been hosed by horrid, horrid officiating, there will be some form of replay or end-line officials behind the goal.

England getting hosed alone might have been enough, but between how France qualified, and everything else that's followed, FIFA can't hold off the call much longer.

Yeah, you'd think so. What would you bet they'll do: Replay or some form of goal line officials?

Goal line officials, only because it would save them some face (since England and their gutter press are likely to be the loudest voices) while being consistent with Sepp's insistence that video technology isn't fair because it can't be used at all levels.

Having 2 extra officials is easier on the poorer/smaller leagues and such.

Except I think Aguirre will actually enjoy that.

To me this is a perfect example of how horrible Blatter is. Who cares if its not used at all levels, this is the f'in World Cup. While I think things have gone great in terms of coverage in the US, all in all I have been underwhelmed by this one. '02 and '06 were far better.

Some pushing and shoving between the benches at half time.

lol @ a comment during half time: the level of French and Italian referees has been consistent with that of the teams.

If it ever gets introduced, it'll be in the Champion's League, imho.

I won't be surprised to see that either, and I have far more faith in Platini than I do Blatter.

Holy smokes, Tevez.

And now the fun begins as Mexico is beaten.

Great strike from Tevez.

Marquez is now figuring out who he wants to hack to pick up his second yellow.

I got $5 on cleats to the chest. Another $5 on a straight red with a headbutt.

I bet he goes after Tevez. He already got Messi once and Tevez has the two goals today. I'm calling an elbow to the head or a studs up tackle from behind.

This is like a Marquez edition of Clue.
