Game postoned. details to come

Bet you they play it tomorrow.

Id think if that was the case they would have already announced that. I see no reason to not play it tomorrow. Both teams have a scheduled off day on Monday also, so it has nothing to do with playing too many games in a row without an off day.

No new date was given for the game to be played, but it will not be tomorrow.

The call was made after a delay of three hours, 12 minutes. The rain stopped shortly after 9 p.m., and the grounds crew tried to get the field playable, but large ponds of water on the outfield warning tracks -- especially by the North Side Notch and against the Clemente Wall -- failed to drain as usual. With another storm approaching, the call was made to end it.

We needed this IMO. On to Houston.

Well, I guess it's time to hit the Faygo.

The Pirates are responsible for their field's conditions. The game should have been forfeited to the Cubs, just like happened with the Sox on Disco Demolition Night.

Is that a cow in the center?

The Cubs should really object to that. There's no justification for making them travel back to Pittsburgh when they're already there with an off-day tomorrow.

Looks like it's going to made-up on Monday.

So we are going to go from Pitt to Houston, and then back to Pitt instead of just playing it tomorrow? Haha there is some real genius thinking going into this decision.

That makes no sense at all. Both teams have the day off tomorrow. Pirates are at home on Friday, so they don't have to go anywhere.

MLB is 0 for 2 on the night.

Yeah that's horrible. I wonder what their justification is. I'm assuming it has something to do with getting fans to the ballpark on less than 24 hours notice (I'm assuming it would be replayed as a day game if it was rescheduled for tomorrow). It's not like the Pirates would draw a ton for the game either way, but it might be an embarrassingly low turnout had they given their fans 12 hours notice for a Thursday day game.

Game canceled due to unplayable conditions, is this [expletive] high school?

high school's not even young enough, let's go with elementary school

TCR pointed out that playing the game tomorrow would have made 21 consecutive games for the Pirates, which is against the CBA. My guess is that today doesn't count as an off day since they had to come to the park and suit up and whatnot.

Len mentioned the same thing early in tonight's game. It wouldn't be realistic to have expected the Pirates players to have agreed to play a 21st consecutive day for the sake of the Cubs' convenience.
