Out of 16 NL starting C, Soto is ranked:

8 in PA

1 in OBP

2 in SLG

1 in OPS

1 in BB

He's presently 2 PA ahead of Gregg Zaun, who has a .709 OPS and can't throw a ball 60 feet.

He needs to start more. He needs to move up in the [expletive] lineup.

This is the Cubs' curse. We have Joe Mauer and we bat him 8th on the days we actually play him. :banghead:

I wouldn't go that far. If the Twins called up today and offered Mauer for Soto straight up, i'd take it in a heartbeat.

So would I, but I am betting Lou would still find a way to get Hill some time. It's ridculous. Hill is minor league fodder.

Uh oh.....Ted looks more like second start Ted than first start Ted.

Watch this be the game we get 7-8 runs......and give up 10.

Relax guys we're facing Charlie Morton. Scoring runs is as close to inevitable as you can get.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. This is the Cubs, the same team that makes loser starting pitchers look like gods.

You have to go all the way back to when we got 2 runs off of Paul Maholm to see this be proven.

17 whole pitches in 2 innings. That is a ridiculous approach against a horrible pitcher.

My point is that conceding the game after the opponent scores one run in the first inning is silly.

Gameday called lilly's 4th pitch to pearce "automatic ball". Although I realize this is probably some gameday glitch, I find funny the notion that lilly's 4th pitch in a sequence to any batter is, by rule, a ball.

edit: that having been said, in every at bat thus far that the pirates hitter has taken the 4th pitch, it has been called a ball. Maybe there's something to this...

How about conceding the game when they have a horrible approach against a horrible pitcher and knowing that this isn't just any team... it's the Cubs?

He went to his glove after licking his fingers.

The game isn't over, but to think the Cubs would destroy Morton is laughable. This team lives to suck against horrible starting pitching.

He went to his mouth and did not wipe his hand off before putting his pitching hand into his glove so the home plate ump called a ball.

We got him for 10 runs in 1 IP last August, and this year he is 0-5 with an ERA over 10. Even the Cubs offense at its worst should be able to squeeze out a few runs.
