I'll stop, but if you warn me, I think a warning should be issued to all the other people (some mods included) who use "flippant one-liners" like "fantastic", "here we go" or "typical Cobs" that also add to the "thoughtless nonsense" in the Game Threads.

But, seeing as I'm a nice guy and I'm the ONLY one who ever speaks negatively about our beloved Cubs, I'll stop. See, all you had to do was ask nicely.

You're not the only one (I thought that was clear by the "culture of thoughtlessness" part), nor the first one I've mentioned it to. But if it makes you feel better...

Attention everyone: Game threads are not your personal emotional dumping ground. While reacting is a natural part of sports viewing, please consider that OTHER PEOPLE READ YOUR POSTS. Give them something worth reading. "Why are you swinging at a curveball out of the zone 2-0? Argh!" is a lot better than "BYRD YOU DUMDUM" or "lol cobs". Thank you.

Alright Fontenot, time to let some of sneaky power sneak back in.

Only the Cubs. God it is the worst thing EVAR to be a Cubbie fan. FML

I'm assuming it's just the plays when Theriot is shaded over due to a hitter, but damned if it doesn't seem like those rollers up the middle are always getting by him.

It's really sad how good this team can look at times and how piss poor it can look at others.

It's the Pirates, for god sakes, not the 1927 Yankees.

Well, even a good team is going to look piss poor over the course of a 162 game season, and lose to bad teams.

Not that this is necessarily a good Cubs team.

I think we need to figure out how to kick off another season long fluke like 08

Step 1: Trade for Jimmy Edmonds

Step 2: Get a better bullpen

Step 3: Show patience at the plate against lousy pitchers

Step 4: Profit!

This wasn't a guy to show patience against tonight. He was consistently throwing in the zone and throwing first and second pitch strikes. They were just making bad contact.

The Cubs look like a .500 club this year, precisely what they were projected to be.

Here's a rule of thumb: If you quote the same thread twice in an argumentative manner, then you are most likely trolling.

We could have had Edmonds for cheap a few months ago.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw Cedeno right in front of the ball. The infield hit Cedeno had earlier seemed like a routing play for most shortstops.

Ha, it just happened again with Bubba Crosby. My gosh Theriot, that is ridiculous.

Step 1 was sarcasm. However, I legitimately find it odd that Edmonds didn't even get a sniff in '09 after how good he was for us in '08.

I was the biggest proponent against the Bradley for Silva deal but it's certainly working in the Cubs favor so far.

I'll give them that. Silva hasn't been horrible, and Bradley's replacement in RF has been damn good.

Serious question, but do the Cubs have a starting position player under the age of 30 besides Soto? I guess you could count Fontenot, but he'll be 30 next month.

Why would Lou view Chad Tracy as the first bat off the bench? They're only down 2. I'm just baffled as to how he justifies so many of his managerial decisions.

Colvin and Baker are as close as you'll get.

0-8 from Theriot and Fukudome tonight. Haven't said that too much lately.

Brewers pound the Pirates in Pittsburgh, Cubs pound Brewers, Cubs do very little in two games against the Pirates. Gotta love baseball.
