Geez, can you get any more sensational about the play? Stupid.

Everyone with a brain should know that play wasn't the sole reason the Cubs lost. Trying to make it into some sort of "you would've done it too" bit is dumb.

Poor Bartman. Good read, though.

I'll be curious to see the 30 for 30 doc on him.

GOOD READ?

I definitely feel for Steve Bartman and blame him for nothing (like, you know, the majority of Cubs fans) but that article/book excerpt/whatever is garbage.

I think the 30 for 30 doc will be interesting and I understand the angle.

Whether Bartman was 100% or 0% responsible, in reality, for the Cubs losing is pretty much irrelevant to its merits as a human interest story.

it is a human interest story but this piece just seems pointless other than to try and make you feel bad for steve bartman.

YES, I ENJOYED IT.

Damnit. I always mock people at work for sending emails with stuff in all caps and then I go and do that.

Regardless, Leitch is a tool. I do agree that I'd probably like to see a 30 for 30 on Bartman if it actually involved him sitting down and being interviewed about the experience and his life since. I'm not really interested if it's just going to be third party commentary and ESPN's view of drunk/stupid/meathead Cubs fans though.

I thought the point was more to make Cubs fans look stupid and somehow blame some morons in the crowd (and, I guess, Moises Alou) for losing the game/series.

I'm not watching that 30 for 30. All the other ones have been very entertaining and informative, but I just can't re-live that night. I just can't.

There was a time in my life where I didn't want to relive that night. Then the calendar turned to 2004 and I got over it. I actually kind of like seeing shows like this. At the very least it will help me relive the only halfway decent playoff run in the last 102 years of our franchise's history.

Wait, all of the last 102 years? That was better than the 7 times during those years that they actually made it to the WS?

In UMFan's defense, there were no playoffs for any of those. They simply won the league and went to the WS.
