picked this up on the scout boards. shows just how dominating pippen was on both sides of the floor in every facet of the game. definitely one of the top all-around players of all time, maybe the best defensive player. he really was the heart and soul of the doberman defense.

If nothing else, that video was a ton of fun to watch. It show that it wasn't all Jordan that kept me interested in the Bulls during that time.

That was Grant's last year with the Bulls, right? He went to Orlando in the offseason?

I really miss that "era" of the NBA.

Bulls have agreed to a sign & trade for C.J. Watson.

http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=16866

Article says he will have an "increased" role with the Bulls? How is he supposed to get more than 27.5 minutes per game behind Rose? I hate to think that he will get PT alongside Rose as he's only 6'2". But they did pay him a decent amount.

Don't know much about Watson, but he seems to be pretty good defensively, as he was only behind Tony Allen and Rondo as far as steals per 48 minutes. He was 13th in the league in SPG, despite playing at least 8 fewer minutes than everyone ahead of him on the list. Career 35% from 3, which is misleading, considering he has one poor season (31%), one great season (41%) and one season around his average in his 3 year career.

Don't know how much money is left, but a shooter is still needed.

God, his game was just so silky smooth.

The more I hear about the Watson deal and Watson as a player, the more I like it. Good shooter, good with the ball, young player, got better as he got more playing time, and he's ecstatic to be coming to Chicago.

Boozer, Korver, Brewer, Asik and Watson now to fill out an existing core of Rose, Noah, Deng, Gibson and James Johnson. Still about $4m in cap room to sign likely a bench big and bench guard (hopefully one more 3pt shooting threat).

Sounds like a team that gets to the 2nd round. After that........dicey.

Considering their options and where they were last year, this team is a good 10-15 games better. Their glaring issues last year were three point shooting and interior scoring, and they added the second-best interior option and the best 3 point shooter in the NBA. The bench is upgraded from Flip Murray/Hakim Warrick/Brad Miller/Jannero Pargo to likely Taj Gibson/Kyle Korver/CJ Watson/Omer Asik.

Rose and Noah should keep improving, and the upgrade from Gibson to Boozer is huge. This was about as well as they could have done this offseason having struck out on the big 3.

Last year's team could've easily been in the upper 40's in wins with good or even neutral injury luck. I'm almost positive they were on pace for 50 wins as late as February (but then had that massive losing streak kill that). The primary reasons for that success were Rose, Noah, and Deng.

This could be a really good team next year, especially if they have some good fortune in the health department.

Understood, but they'd probably run into one of Boston, Orlando, or Miami in the 2nd round. I'd like our chances against Boston the most. Regardless, I think that's the point where it becomes a question whether they would advance further.

Sure, but short of getting Carmelo Anthony or something ridiculous, everyone knew Orlando and likely Miami were the EC favorites after the Bosh-Wade-LeBron deal.

I do agree with the idea that we've done about as good as can be expected given Lebron-Wade-Bosh went elsewhere.

I'm actually fairly excited to see how this team performs next year. Even though a Championship is far-fetched, it should still be a significantly higher quality of basketball night in and night out.

Magic chimes in:

Basketball Hall of Famer Magic Johnson said he never would have joined with Larry Bird to win a championship the way LeBron James is teaming with Dwyane Wade.

"We didn't think about it cause that's not what we were about," said Johnson, whose Michigan State squad beat Bird's Indiana State team in the 1979 National Collegiate Athletic Association championship. "From college, I was trying to figure out how to beat Larry Bird."

Kareem and James were also trying to figure this out.
