I'm curious how the majority of basketball fans feel about this. My guess is that he's the one of the most hated athletes right now. Wade may be up there too.

There was just nothing about LeBron you could hate before this right? He treated his old HS teammates well. He had fun with his pro teammates. He threw powder in the air. He looked like he was having a blast. It's hard to believe the same guy who could do all of that can turn around and act like a horse's ass for a week.

I guess I just don't understand his burning desire to play with Chris Bosh. Why would Bosh be the deal breaker for any team?

A week ago, I had a neutral opinion of James, and I didn't have a strong interest in where he went. But this fiasco has been the biggest "hey, look at me, I'm important" production I have ever seen in sports. Straight up ego massage. And it culminated with the most unceremonious f-you to a former team (not to mention a real hometown team) ever.

You tell the Cavs FO you're leaving, take out an ad in the paper, and sign a contract.

I find no fault with Wade.

So this is what 2003 felt like for you guys, eh?

This is terrible. I was the last remaining non-bitter and jaded Cleveland fan left. :bye:

did you recently move to Apple Valley? I lived very close to there not long ago.

there was an article (taken down now) on some newspaper website that said mike miller has agreed to go to the heat.

that would be just fannntastic.

Mid-level exception? Well there goes that. Only minimum and rookie guys now right?

dwadeofficial: Taking a quick break 2 get some lunch. Then "back to the future". L2ms

dwadeofficial: Imma start a website called What little do they know.com..l2ms

Anybody care to wager as to what "l2ms" stands for? Now we definitely know how orchestrated this was. Keep in mind that tweet happened last Friday afternoon when the Wade and Bosh rumors to the Bulls were in full swing. He flat out played us. There's no other way around it.

Yep. All 3 guys are pretty much scum now imo, and that's not just me being bitter.

I thought Wade was better than this. I really did.

It was bad enough he played us, but to use the kids?

Jon Greenberg on ESPNChicago on Reinsdorf's pitch...

"I opened the meeting saying, 'If it's in the best interest of your family, and for loyalty reasons, you want to stay in Cleveland, you should stay in Cleveland. I am not here to tell you to leave Cleveland, but to let you know that if you decide to leave Cleveland, we're the best place for you to go,'" Reinsdorf told Melissa Isaacson.

You know, I hate that we didn't get LeBron, but I feel that Reinsdorf and Co. did what they needed to do to put themselves in a position to get him, but he apparently just didn't want to be "The Man" even though he's been calling himself "King James" since he was 16

Am I the only one who looks at Kobe under a completely different light than 2 months ago?

Everybody knows of my disdain for Kobe Bryant, but after watching Wade and James and to a lesser degree Bosh basically give the rest of the NBA a big middle finger too, I can so see a situation in which Kobe Bryant goes Michael Jordan/Byron Russell over Lebron James or Dwayne Wade (both needs to get OWNED badly) to win the NBA title.

anyways, basketball wise it will be really interesting to see how the heat do this year. could be insanely ridiculous or it could be disappointing

James no longer has the right to call him "King." And I hand it to Reinsdorf and his group for giving it their all, but if a jackass doesn't want to be here, it will be sweet to kick his ass on the court.

I think if you want to beat the Heat you have to do it the first year when they still adjusting to each other and having no depth. But if and when they developed even an average bench, they'll be virtually impossible to stop. That is until Wade hurts himself, I mean get broken.

they might have more depth than we expect, especially if they sign miller.

i think the 3 contracts might be a little smaller than we think, and that could be reallllly bad for everybody else.

apparently the t-wolves swapped 1st rounders with the heat in that beasley trade, and it's not lottery protected

which means the heat are going to be getting a lottery pick. just [expletive] great

Yeah that sucks that the Heat will get a lottery pick but it at least makes a little more sense that the #2 pick from 2 years ago is worth something.

The Knicks sent Isiah Thomas to Akron last night to give a last minute pitch on their behalf. How is that a good idea?

Probably to remind LeBron, in case he forgot, that Isaiah isn't with the Knicks any more.

Aren't Wade and Bosh (or maybe just Wade) making a documentary about this whole thing? They're the same kind of attention whores that LeBron is.

I heard it was just Bosh? Anyways it would not surprise me if when this documentary comes out we find out it was planned the whole time and they laugh about it leading up to it.

Not many times in my life as a sports fan that I've gone from liking a player a whole lot to completely rooting against him for his career. If you'd asked me a month ago if I'd have been happy if The Big Three signed together, I would have been all about it. And, honestly, I'll probably have fun watching them in the highlight reels. But, wow, screw you LeBron - I'm only a passing NBA fan and I'm pretty grossed out by your antics since you gave up on the playoffs.

(I still wish he'd signed with the Bulls)

this season is going to be EPIC.

I still can't believe this happened. I can't wait to see how this all plays out. Basically, if they dont win multiple championships, this was a huge disaster.
