I'm sure most of you have seen this article on fangraphs. It says Silva is using his change up more this year, so he is able to get lefties out, which is the reason for his improvement. I think Rothschild should get credit for this one.

absolutely agree. if you have a good changeup, you can be a serviceable pitcher in the league. this is why we have rothschild, he's very good.

Whatever coaching/GM change we make, I really hope the new manager keeps Larry around. Short of Dave Duncan it'd be hard to improve on Rothschild.

I wouldn't be surprised if he became available but i also dont expect the Cubs to go after him. I'm little annoyed by it but the cubs have this unconditional love for Larry Rothchild.

 

Under Rothschild I wouldn't count on anything from Thomas Diamond, when one thinks of it, what pitcher has improved with his guidance?

 

The problem is that Hendry doesn't have a plan how to rebuild and he'd just go out and sign similar players to the same type of contract. I just want them out of here. That includes Larry Rothschild. A decent pitching coach would be working with Marmol on control and pitching approach. I'd move The Riot to second and get a bona fide SS in there.

 

why is larry rothschild always given a free pass? Fire him too. Steve Stone is a better pitching coach then him.

You have to be kidding on that link. One guy basically saying Rothschild sucks and then a bunch of people saying that he doesn't.

 

 

As for those other comments, with no link, it's hard to know if people whose opinions are actually worth anything said them, but it's extremely doubtful.

And something tells me those quotes aren't from NSBB's best and brightest.

 

Face it, slamming Rothschild has not been common around here for some time now.

I never said the whole thread was bashing Rothschild and if I gave that impression, sorry. It was started to complain about him, though.

 

And weis asked for people complaining about Rothschild and I showed him some examples. I will agree that there hasn't been constant complaining about Larry, though.

es Dave Duncam, I can't think of anyone else I would rather have. I think most of the people who disliked Larry did so under Dusty. Later we found out that Dusty didn't listen to Larry much at all.

Today should be a good test to see where Silva is actually at. He has pitched great but AZ's offense is a tougher one to get through than the HOU, NYM, and CINCY. If Silva can go 7 and keep it to 4 or under I will feel pretty good about him.

Later we found out that Dusty didn't listen to Larry much at all.

Dick Pole (one of Dusty's boys) was de-facto pitching coach. Dusty inherited Larry because Larry still had time remaining on his contract. I'm actually surprised that Dusty didn't move Larry to bench coach and make Pole pitching coach officially. Larry was a former manager, so he certainly would have been a logical choice as bench coach.
