Personally, this is not an unexpected start to the season. I feel pretty bad for Red Sox fans though.

Yeah, I definitely don't. 2 world series in the last decade. They can suck it.

I could never feel sorry for Red Sox fans

I know. The Red Sox hate on this board is pretty amusing.

Wait. You feel more sorry for Red Sox fans than Cub fans? :blackeye:

As every year goes by, I begin to hate all the teams even more. DBacks, Dodgers, Marlins, Braves, Giants, Cardinals......... We need to win it once so I can stop caring.

This home plate ump is awful.

Which is why I asked earlier why he's a minor leaguer working behind the plate. Is this a normal thing? I know Fred said someone took the day off and so they brought him in, but why put him behind the plate

Turned it off but checked back on Gameday to see Fukudome's plate appearance. This is what it showed. Green are balls. Red are called or swung at strikes. Look at #5 and #7 (called).

Vanover didn't just take the day off, he took the whole series, maybe the whole week off. Tichenor was in his place at first base last night, home plate tonight, will be at third base tomorrow night, etc, etc, as long as Vanover is gone.

There were 4 umpires that retired last year, 4 umps were promoted to crew chief to take their place, and four minor league umpires were promoted to the major league staff. Their union contract is incredibly generous when it comes to time off during the season. Literally one third to one half of the time, when you see a crew come in for a series there will be one minor leaguer filling in for somebody. This is how they evaluate the young guys and decide who to promote.

Gameday uses pitchf/x which uses absolute height for strike zones, right? IOW, Miles and Lee have the same size and location strike zones with it. The bottom of the zone needs to be adjusted manually, unless I'm wrong about how they do it.
