There is no Jordan LeBron comparison at this point No way someone came into Chicago twice in one series and beat em by 20. No way.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_NBA_Playoffs#Eastern_Conference

Game 3 @ Chicago: Detroit 101, Chicago 79

Game 4 @ Chicago: Detroit 96, Chicago 77

Exact same age as LeBron too.

Were the Bulls the overwhelming favorites to win it all in '88? I can't remember. Furthermore it isn't that Jordan can't do any wrong, it's more that LeBron is just massively overrated. Kobe is the closest thing to Mike and LeBron is a guy who could maybe benefit by shooting a few thousand jumpers everyday because when he starts to age and lose his freakish athletic ability, I think his game is gonna fall off big time.

i'm not a jordan apologist, because i think pippen was huge in those championship years, but detroit was an overwhelming favorite and on their way to the finals, and then back-to-back championships in the following years. in this case, as well as the year before, the cavs are the overwhelming favorites getting punked at home.

not to mention, James has been 27 since he stepped onto an NBA court.

he's going to need another superstar.

Of course Pippen was huge, he's like a top 15 player of all time. But in '88 he sure wasn't. LeBron has a ton of talent around him right now too and he still isn't going to get it done.

Lebron James would never allow his father to be killed due to his own gambling debts.

He would have to find him first.

oh snap

i wonder what lebron's mom told him about his dad growing up. maybe that he was in the peace corp and the he died in the desert

They also got taken to 5 games by the 7 seed Bullets because they couldn't win in Washington.

Were the Bulls the overwhelming favorites to win it all in '88? I can't remember.

Ah, so LBJ is ahead of the MJ curve.

Maybe his team is further ahead, but he as a player isn't. When is LeBron gonna have his 37 5 and 5 year? shoot 50 per from the field and 85 at the line?

This year he put up 30/7/9 on 50% from the field and 77% from the line. So, about 65 less free throws and about 175 more rebounds.

lebron, as a player, is the second coming of oscar robertson.

only nobody here is old enough to remember what oscar robertson looked like.

but, let's stop comparing him to mj. if he ever gets the competitive drive of mj, he'll win as many or more titles, but i don't think it's happening.

He's a great player, I am not trying to argue that. It would be foolish to do so. But, at this point I still think Kobe is more of a threat to the G.O.A.T. title than LeBron ever will be.

lebron has a ton of talent around him right now? where is it?

Who was better on the '88 Bulls team than Jamison, Mo Williams,Varejo, or Hickson. Keep in mind that Pippen and grant were not yet Pippen and Grant in '88.

Posted
Charles Oakley was really [expletive] good

So is Anderson Varejo

JJ Hickson isn't

He's not great, but in '88 the Bulls were freaking awful. Pippen and Grant were nothing.

Yeah, I don't agree with that at all.

Yeah, I don't agree with that at all.

You don't think that LeBron is a horrible jump shooter that relies mainly on being bigger and faster than everyone else?

50+% from the field says he's not a horrible jump shooter.

Also, career numbers.

Lebron from 3- .329

Jordan from 3- .327

Where do you think the Cavs would be with Delonte West playing 35 minutes a game in place of LBJ?
