I don't know why I feel this way, but if the Sharks win this series, and the Blackhawks somehow advance, I feel like the Hawks would destroy SJ even without home ice. 5-6 games at most.

And both teams grab a point! I mean go to sudden death OT.

If Detroit losses this one it is completely on them. Missed penalty shot, taking too many penalties(legit tonight), let sleep walking joe thorton score a goal,

welp, i was wrong about Howard, he's been a total disappointment most of the postseason

Not just Howard, some of things we've seen happen never happened to past Wings teams. But, you've got to consider they're not those great Wings anymore, pretty close to average team now.

Well if the Hawks can win their series, they'll get the Sharks.

Definitely the preferred matchup. We definitely don't have a mental barrier against Detroit. That said, enough talking about WCF opponents. We are still in a dogfight that is completely up in the air right now.

I do hope that Detroit can take 1-2 games before bowing out. Don't want to give a team a 7-10 days off in the middle of a long playoff grind.

i actually think they're the 2nd best team in the west.

i also think the sharks really are THAT good, especially if that first line is actually going well.

have i posted about my pool team? this is pretty funny i think. here's my roster:

Ilya Kovalchuk

Zach Parise

Brooks Laich

Tomas Fleischmann

Anze Kopitar

Shane Doan

Brian Rafalski

Nick Lidstrom

Nik Kronwall

Jack Johnson

Jimmy Howard

Martin Brodeur

i was a kiss of death. sorry to fans of these teams, including myself.

Its not like they are being dominated. They have had some huge bad breaks and yet have come real close to winning all three games. If Pavelski, Clowe and Thorton keep playing at the level they are SJ will win the Stanley Cup

Honestly, I don't think it will happen but the way every game in the series has been anyone's game, it wouldn't be crazy if Detroit at least makes things interesting. It will depend on their mental state going into game 4 I guess. Some teams have a "nothing to lose" attitude when these things happen, others fall apart.

wow, just about everybody in this thread is seriously selling the Wings short. they have to be the favorites in any series from here on out, barring injury to any of the big three.

:stickman:

all three games have been 4-3; they're not exactly getting slaughtered. just some bad breaks, like Lidstrom's stick (literally), and the 5 on 3 coming from Setoguchi's dive, and Howard letting in some softies. it very easily could be something like 2-1 in the Wings favor right now, just part of the unpredictability of a short series

can you honestly say that the Sharks have carried the play in any of the three games?

It was still stupid to say they'd have to be the favorite in every series.

i don't know why people thought the flyers could win this series.

i have mixed feelings about this season. with the talent on the roster the flyers massively underachieved this year - no reason they should have been in a shootout to get into the playoffs. but then with the injuries they've had, they did well in beating the devils. they won 3 more games i expected them to win... getting swept is disappointing but we were never going to win the cup with shitty brian boucher in net.

None of that is relevant to the statement I quoted above. Being the favorite doesn't mean "not exactly getting slaughtered".

Anyway, I really wasn't trying to be an ass and rub it it in....

Well ok, maybe a little. :)

the favorites don't always prevail

in the sharks-red wings series, the favorite is prevailing. actually in every series the favorite is leading right now.

you overreacted to the wings playing a great game against the 'yotes. they were fantastic in game seven obviously, but the rest of that series they weren't all that great and they haven't been better than the sharks. yes, if the red wings play their absolute best in every game they will win the stanley cup. but that doesn't happen.
