Looks like Pittsburgh has quit.

The Penguin defenseman didn't even try to stop the Montreal player on that goal. Just let him skate right on by.

gonchar wears that A on his sweater too. pathetic.

Maybe that stands for apathy.

This is just pitiful. It's not just Halak standing on his head like it was at times against the Caps. They're just completely dominating this game. Pittsburgh is lazy, sloppy and dumb.

Uh oh. 4-2 now.

Good thing Gonchar quit on the fourth Montreal goal.

That last 8 minutes or so of the 2nd the Pens were just swarming. Good thing they sleepwalked through the first 30 minutes. Now they've got a 4-3 for the first minute of the 3rd and then 50 seconds of 5-4.

I predict the Pens score only to see Halak rip their hearts out late.

welp that'll do it for pittsburgh.

the stanley cup finals might be really terrible this year. like the mid to late 90s when the red wings just rolled over the flyers and caps in consecutive years. whatever team comes out of the east will be way worse on paper than the hawks or sharks.

Thats why the Hawks better come to play this next series.

Absolutely, the WC Finals is likely the Stanley Cup Finals this year. The Hawks have an incredible chance to win the Cup this year, they just need to survive this series against San Jose.

Either the 6th or 7th seed vs. the 8th seed, its the Eastern Conference Finals! If Philly somehow did the unthinkable, how bizarre would it be for the 7th seed to have home ice in the Conference Finals?

The alternative, of course, would be the 6 seed Bruins having home ice twice.

That's more amazing then when the 4 seed Arizona Cardinals had home field to play the 6 seed Eagles in the NFC Championship a couple of years ago.

Not only do we not get another AO .v. Cindy matchup (ty Montreal) but both teams were eliminated by the 8th seed. Betteman and his cronies must be loving this development.

i still think you should be able to choose the PP over a penalty shot if you want

i'd have much rather had 2 minutes of PP in that situation

Wow, these playoffs have been fantastic. I used to only watch bits and pieces of the NHL playoffs unless the Hawks were in, but this year I dove right in and I am so happy I did. I was looking forward to watching these 2 games all day and they didn't disappoint.

Yep but now it's pretty clear that you can't rule out Halak standing on his head and leading them to the Cup. Unlikely but he's been such a stud the last two weeks.

In a way I was kind of hoping for the Penguins to win because a Blackhawks/Penguins finals would have been a lot of fun.

I just realized if the Bruins win game 7, there will be 3 original six teams in the final 4, and we will have a 100% chance of at least 1 O6 team in the finals with a 50% chance of 2 O6 teams squaring off for the Cup. Pretty cool. Sharks don't ruin this.

I think if you miss the penalty shot you should still get a 2 minute PP. The one thing that is supposed to separate a penalty shot from just a penalty is did the shooter still have a legitimate scoring chance. So if he has a legit scoring chance and doesnt score they still call the penalty. If however the player does not have a scoring chance then he gets the scoring chance with the penalty shot in theory, if he misses it..done.

I think if a team could chose they would still take the penalty shot almost every time. My guess is successful penalty shot percentages are a lot better then even the best PP percentages.

I'm kinda hoping for a rematch of the 1971 Stanley Cup.
