Heh, it seems like I watch the Game 5 highlights against Nashville at least once a day.

The first game I remember was when the Avalanche eliminated us in the conference semis in 1996. I didn't really understand all of the hockey lingo but I thought it was a pretty cool sport. I remember vaguely following the Hawks for the next few years, watching guys like Roenick and Chelios leave. I thought the NHL video games were the absolute best, so that really helped me out in terms of understanding the sport and it got me extremely interested in it.

The random 2001 season really piked my interest for Blackhawk hockey and I've never really looked back. The Hawks were easily my favorite team in hockey but they were way down on my personal totem pole as far as favorite professional sports teams go. I was probably one of the only people in high school who actually gave a [expletive] that the league was being locked out.

The best part is that everything that has happened over the last 15 years has been worth it. I wasn't old enough to appreciate the Bulls dynasty and the Packers Super Bowl. I've seen about as low as an organization can go. I haven't taken this turnaround for granted. The more bandwagon fans, the merrier. There was a point in time where I would kill for three or four other hockey fans in the same school as me. Now, everybody is claiming themselves to be a Hawks fan and I couldn't be happier.

Two more wins.

No [expletive]? I was going to make fun of you but quickly realized I'm jealous.

It sounds dorky but its actually a lot of fun. I was in a league with all hipsters (nothing against you if you are a hipster) and none of them could catch or field and couldnt kick the ball out of the infield, so I switched to Chicago Kickball with a buddy of mine and its much more competitive, but not so competitive that it's not fun. And then afterwards the bar that sponsors us gives us $2 drinks and free food all night. Thursday mornings are among my least productive each week.

My earliest hockey memories are scribbling out all the Pittsburgh Penguins in their 1992 championship team card, and listening on the radio when the Blackhawks were eliminated in Game 5 of the WCF by the Red Wings in 2OT in 1995.

I know I was watching the Hawks earlier than this, but the youngest Hawk memory I can pinpoint was watching the 95 WCF as well. Specifically game 4, which was back and forth and the Hawks starved off elimination for a game. I also remember watching Chelios score in OT to sweep the Canucks in (i think 1997). I remember that Avs series too, that was annoying

my first memories are of the 88-89 team that lost to calgary in the conference finals. all of my other teams lost in the conference finals that year. the cubs (well, nlcs, to the giants), the bulls (to the pistons), and the bears (to the 49ers). oh, and the illini lost in the semifinal game.

kinda weird, i think.

I wonder if a kickball league would fly in the Iowa City area...

Go hockey!

If you ever wanted to start one, WAKA Kickball is probably where you'd want to start. They do a lot of the organizing for you supposedly.

ok enough derailing

LETS GO HAWKS!

You try playing kickball ironically and see how well you do.

I have a kickball game tonight at 7:15. I look forward to these games all week. I do have the ability to DVR the game, but when I've tried that in the past I've never ever been able to withstand either hearing the score of the game or giving in and looking it up.

I was assuming it was gonig to be rained out all day, but now apparently the games are on...This is going to be tough.

You play kickball every week. The Blackhawks never gone for a 3-0 lead in the SCF in your lifetime.

True..the tease is that I think I can do both. I always think I can do both. I say I have a legit 50% chance of making it home after the game without hearing the score. Once I get to that point I can fastforward through the commercials and intermission until I catch up, but I won't be able to be on NSBB or any other Hawks forums during the game.

I do this all the time -- for a lot of games (including most of the Shark series and part of Game 2). The hazards of my job and a two year old.

I, too, have played kickball with hipsters.

That is, I kick hipsters in the balls.

Grew up listening to Pat Foley on 570 AM - I pretty certain it 570AM - nevertheless, Bannerman!!!!! with the save!!!! Doug Wison, Bob Murray, Steve Larmer - remember him hitting the post with such force the ping seemed to resonant in my room, Ludzik, Eddie Olczyk, Al Secord and of course, Savoir Faire - Denis Savard.

Unfortunately, I too remember that year, still pissed about the Illini loss, they had handled Michigan with relative ease in the regular season. Kicked the [expletive] of out them in one of the games, there's no doubt the Illini were the better team, lucky bounce went their way - the only productive thing Sean Higgins ever did as a Wolverine.

Go hockey!

I think a kick ball league would work in Iowa City and I agree with the second sentiment.
