B&B whining about the stat crowd who say the strikeout isn't a big deal now. This is making my ears bleed. Shut up, morons.

wait you mean it's a bad idea to give almost $4m to lefties with mediocre stuff who have a career whip above 1.4?

But, OMG the next gm could be worse.!!!!!!!!!!one!!!!!!!!!!!111

Nobody's said that no matter how many times you pretend that someone has.

Yes, in fact, many people have said that the next GM could be worse. You included.

I remember reading that as well. You are correct.

No, he's not. He continually brings it up as if others were saying the Cubs should just keep Hendry since the next GM will likely be similarly mediocre or worse. That's not the case. There's a huge difference between recognizing that truly good GM's are few and far between and actually wanting to see Hendry keep his job because of that.

But never as a reason to retain Hendry as you continually imply.

So what was your reason to keep Jim? Because he's proven time and time again he's awful at his job.

Caridad doesn't look ready for high pressure situations like this.

But c'mon he looked so good in 10 innings of meaningless baseball last September. Of course either him or the lefty that can't get lefties out with the 1.40 career WHIP should be the 8th inning guy.

Jesus, just send Shark back to Iowa if you don't want him in games, having him tag along on road trips like a [expletive] mascot isn't going to make him any better. Headless chickens could run this team better, I swear.

Considering the payroll Hendry had the past 3 years and the product it produced, I cant imigine the next one being worse.

Look around baseball. In no way am I fan of Hendry keeping his job, but look at how many GM's simply are not very good at their jobs.

The moral of the story is when you have good starting pitching, but an absolutely pathetic offense, you need a good set up man.

The actual moral of that story is that if you truly have a pathetic offense the other two are pretty redundant.

Maybe long-term, but we should be 5-1 right now with a real bullpen despite our offense not showing up in Cinci.

the great debate here is which one is worse ourr offense in late innings or our BP. Flip a coin

If only we had another lefty whose been consistantly good the past 3 years who we could use in the 8th inning. If only.

So hire one who is.

I have never given a reason to justify Hendry keeping his job or have supported the idea of him keeping his job. The closest I've come to that is stating that I understand why the new owners wouldn't necessarily clean house right away with the way the timeline of the sale played out.

Michael Wuertz would be BY FAR the best noncloser in our bullpen right now, but Lou ran him off like a witch in Monty Python years ago. Unreal.

I don't know but 18 runs in 6 games doesn't typically cut it. You're looking at a 486 run season if that continued, which it won't.

Even then I think he should have been canned. He doesn't understand how to build a baseball team. I would rather 5 or 6 posters on here run the team than him.

I really don't recall anyone besides me making such a point. My point was that while I would have zero problem seeing Hendry fired, I have little confidence that his replacement would be any better.
